Good vid. I've had to deal with the tail light issue myself. Very common.

I just soldered a wire to the buss bar on the bulb holder, ran it out the vent hole, then connected with a spade connector. Also, pretty sure mk2’s are aluminum and won’t rust.

Late to the game but there is a ground mod that will increase the longevity (perhaps forever) of your tail lights.

Yes I’ve read about this, the grounding wire I installed is almost double the thickness to the original harness. If I ever have issues again I’m gonna go to LED’s anyways and do the resistors and better grounding, but power mods first 🤪

So, anyone who has done this also have the replacement part fail in the same way?

Great video, made my life allot easier, took no time at all following your tips. 💯 great idea to recommend and the plastic trip pry’s, bought a set off Amazon and saved a ton of effort to remove the trim and the light. I did end up buying a ch!nese brake light as that is all they sell on Amazon these days. Wish me luck, probably going to fail sometime soon but it works for now.
