it is an issue for those who buy Samsung. And that is what this video is about. And it is also downselling DJI gimbal in a way. Cos it is not all apples and oranges :D... But no gimbals app can meet Samsung camera apps. And there is always bluetooth options with limited features. That is still best when compared to other phones/gimbal apps.

It seems to me all the issues you had were operator error. Learn how to set up your ultra for the shots then I bet you'll get much better results. The S21 is an amazing peice of gear but any gear is crappy if you don't know what you're doing.

This is not the case, i 'upgraded' from the P30 pro 2 weeks ago, ive tried a multitude of different settings on this phone and this phone cannot compete with the P30 pro in terms of video quality, only if the lighting conditions are optimal can it compare. I truly hope they can sort this out via updates, otherwise ive wasted my money

Not all, the cameras have different colors the stabilization has some issue. Everything can be fixed with some update. The argument about the lazy devs I hear all the time, but instagram has thousands of devs, dji is a really huge company as well. When you buy the phone you buy the whole package so if video content creation is important to you those are valid arguments to consider before getting that phone

@@FreeGafo there's another thing that you failed to mention and that's which Galaxy S21 Ultra you are using?.. 🤷‍♂️🤔 The US version that uses the Snapdragon 888 has better camera and video with performance than the exynos international version. 100% fact and video performance has been tested against iPhones and the Snapdragon 888 actually has better video quality than iPhones. If you are using the US version then I don't know what to say because most people I know prefer the performance from the Galaxy S21 Ultra video compared to iPhones.

I have the S21 Ultra and iPhone too. I think the issue with the candlelit videos you took with the S21 was probably that you had auto HDR on (which can be switched off in the video settings). If you switch it off and manually set the exposure, it should look much better.

Samsung recently released a software Expert RAW where you can shoot raw images using all lens. I'll look for your review about S22Ultra as it is said they'll bring some massive improvements to videography and maybe also bring sensor shift.

Yes it's true. Do you have a personal experience with this APK? When I still had the S21Ultra I always minded that not always after choosing a zoom lens the phone really took pictures through the zoom lens. Often he just made a cut out of the main sensor. The new Expert raw application is for photography only. When I want to set the video manually, I am again limited to the apk Expert raw. In Pro video mode, I only have the main and wide-angle sensor available. Both zoom lenses are again unavailable. It's the focus of samsung that I don't understand. But probably samsung will get money for making such a function not possible, otherwise I don't understand.

I don't think you are degrading the S21 Ultra. However, it is DJI's fault 100% that their stupid device isn't as compatible with Samsung devices as with Apple devices. It's rather disgusting that they are too lazy to collaborate with Samsung to make their product as compatible with the S lines that consistently have much higher quality camera and video features than iPhones... I shouldn't be forced to have a device that I don't want just because companies are too blind to see the value of making their product equally compatible with both devices.

Dude. If you are using the S21 Ultra for IG, you don't need to use the Social Media App to use it's Camera. All you need is just use the Camera App of your phone and then send it to your IG story? How's that sound?

the real reason being for all those problems of dji mimo app/Filmic Pro/ Protake/ Insta/Tiktok/or any third party apps to fully control all the lenses in every Android phone is the CAMERA API access Level 3 Support that all the Android Manufacturer purposely locked it .And the only way to unlock all these features is to root the phone and enable Camera API access which is not worth it. You really nailed this issue in your review, lots of people dont even realize it.

All the points as you mentioned 100% agree. There are other issues however that make any Samsung flagship basically useless for anyone seriously considering photography or video recording. Issues like stuttery4K 60 FPS, over sharpening, motion blur due to slow shutter speed, jelly effect on the edges while recording and even after post processing, dark and grainy indoor videos. Most reviews just plaster daylight and night time photos and compare with two or three other popular phones from the same year, and pat themselves on the back for making reviews.

I have to agree. I use android and Samsung. I often take pictures of my children indoors by phone. Not in bad light at all. But the phone prefers to automatically select low iso and take photos at 1/30 or 1/50. It doesn't matter on static things, but when photographing people, the photos are blurred ... I also don't understand when I want to record video in 60FPS, I can't use a zoom lens anymore, and I have two at the end. In order for them to be available at all times, I only need to record 30fps. In addition, when I record with only one zoom without the ability to switch between other lenses, I also have the option to record 60fps. Another pointless restriction. In my opinion, this is only an intention, it would not be technically possible and the phone would not have the power to do so. There is also a difference between Snapdragon and Exynos. Exynos in a worse light begin to decay and details are lost. This is most evident in the surface structure where the video is too scratched, out of focus. The snapdragon doesn't do this at all, and the video's detailed amount is natural, it can be regulated by reducing the iso, but at least it's possible to keep the details.

Watching this a year later and a lot of this seems to not be the case anymore. And if you want a great gimbal, get a Moza MX 2. If you are serious about good footage from a phone, then nobody has really good stabilization. Just a fact. I shoot with a gimbal or tripod base. Truth is, I was part of a team that shot a commercial on iPhone 6’s. Nobody who watched knew what it was shot on unless they were told. Personally, I think that the 2021 iPad Pro is a much better camera than either the iPhone 13 or Samsung 21 Ultra. Or you could just get a pocket Red. Filmic Pro on my iPad or S21 Ultra gets me amazing stuff. The golden rules; keep it steady, give it plenty of light and make sure it’s interesting.

First, the video footage you made was great :D Now for the flaws you mentioned isn't really flaws. When you create content videos with the aims to upload them on IG or any other social media, it's better to record with the stock camera, edit in post with Premiere Pro, FCPX, Da Vinci Resolve or whatever and then export to the right format to have no lost of quality when uploading on IG or whatever. However the Pro Video only give access to the wide and ultra wide angle and yes... that's a bummer. I suppose we dont have access to the telephoto or zoom capacity because they are solely based on the AI and image processing therefore... the zoom capacity isn't really lenses dedicated to telephoto or zoom. I doubt we will have Telephoto or zoom in Pro Mode Video for that reason. I may be wrong but... why didn't they directly provide us access to these tele and zoom lens on Pro Video. But there is one NEAT feature I love about the Pro Mode Video is the ability to record at 120p at 1080p. Why is that good ? Because it is fair enough to create great B Roll sequences, and B Roll with wide lens and ultra wide lens are actually what we are looking for to create some Daniel Schiffer style B Roll sequence. That's absolutely an underrated option that no one talk about :D

Filmic pro works fine for me in my s21 and you can use the gimbal without any problem, it's perfectly integrated with the app. IG really has problems not only with s21, with all android devices. About RAW option in automatic mode, I don't know if it was updated but now you can turn on RAW option in auto mode. Great video!

Your issue are with apps not being optimized for the phone. That's an issue with Instagram and DJI Samsung can't force them to optimize their apps better. This is because app developers are lazy and they don't want to create a single version of the app for every single Android that exists it's much easier for them to do it for the small amount of iPhones that exist. You're basically getting a ported version of the app. The phone is great the app optimization is not but Samsung has no control over that which makes your points in the video really irrelevant

I agree with everything. What version did you have? Snapdragon or Exynos? The video is a nice summary for people who want to get the most out of the S21 Ultra. Almost nothing is possible. There is a mode for, but only for the main and ultra-wide lenses. Both zoom lenses cannot be controlled. And that's a really big shame. Now samsung has released an application that zoom lenses can finally be used when shooting raw. But the video is not for an incomprehensible reason. I also don't like that in bad or bad light, the phone decides whether to use a zoom lens, or just cut out from the main sensor even if I switch to a zoom lens. With the new EXPERT RAW apk for photography, perhaps this is already solved ... but not for video. The same goes for the settings restrictions in the DJI apk ... certainly the same in FILMIC PRO. I don't believe Samsung could prove it. I almost think that's the point so it's not perfect. It's a deal between Apple and Samsung. The battle between the two companies is only to the naked eye. I am reviewing the phone from the content creation side. 3d party cam apps work worse than on iphone, video stabilization is not great, social media apps are working worse than on iphone. For creators those points are a huge disadvantage but depends on your use case as a photo camera is really powerful and better than apple but you can’t share it cos instagram is f* up the quality 😂

I just got the s21 and dji and noticed that the dji app doesn't utilize the full potential. My guess is because the ultra has so much more than the previous generation that they need to make updates specific for the ultra. Where as the iphone didn't need it because it was similar to the previous generation.

That is all in pro video mode on the S21 Ultra I'm able to create incredible footage and even edit and final cut pro. You don't even have full control of the camera in an iPhone. Depends what yoy wanna record. The phone is multipurpose tool the gopro is action cam. In the moment you buy the phone you can count that you lost the money at least 50%. The DJI mimo is specifically made for IOS and they support only a few options in android. You cannot blame Samsung for that, even my OP9 pro does the same with mimo. And w.r.t 3rd party must release updates to get optimize to new hardware or phone.

Agree, but if you buy the phone mainly to record it is a huge limitation. Now Zhiyun released new mobile gimbal and it is a perfect combo with the s21 ultra but before u didn’t have that option.

That's right. But since no one completes the updates and options that are missing, the android device becomes insufficient for these functions. Not because of the hardware, but because of the software. But the fact that it is used only half is a bare fact. Iphone has more options for that.

since you talked about screen recording, here is the issue I have with iphone and ipad screen record: it is giving me some odd frame rates and in post there are many frame misplacements and frame jumps. do you have the same problem? the workaround I do is to render it once at 25fps using media encoder and then put it in the premiere pro. but you know the frames are not aligned perfectly. I tried even right clicking, modified, interpret footage and set to 25fps and it crashes in premiere. it is frustrating

Yes, I've run into that issue. Most of the time I get consistent frame rates when screen recording but when I edit a video and screen-recording at the same time the frame rates are going crazy. The problem for me comes when I do a talking video and the video is completely misaligned. To fix the issue I chop the screen recording on parts like 3-5mins like that it is easy to audio sync.

When you buy a phone you buy the whole package. As I said in the video this phone is better than the iPhone in many ways but there are areas where it underperformance and the biggest problem is consistency. IPhone lenses are not perfect as well but they are consistent, when I record with all 3 lenses after that it doesn't look like I filmed it on a different camera, the white balance is very similar, the s21 ultra has a huge difference between the lenses + problems with 3d party apps. That doesn't make it as a whole package the perfect video phone if it would cost 700-800$ in that case it would be perfect

@@FreeGafo BTW have you tried turning off the video stabilisation on the camera before pairing it with the gimbal? That sudden shake you experienced even during ninja walk is because the camera's own stabilisation is counteracting the gimbal's effect! When this happens, the camera's stabilisation system literally cancels out the gimbal's effect and thus you get no stabilisation. It's very weird; yet again it's not samsung's fault because they don't make phones according to third party companies 🙄

Another is the 3d party support, it is true that is not a Samsung fault but you are buying the whole system not just the phone and as a whole video package there are issues

I also understand your point of view about the whole system; samsung just isn't compatible with third party gimbal's but honestly I'm more disappointed at DJI. OM 5 has the same issues and I was so excited when I purchased it. While the wobbly background issue without the gimbal is samsung's issue to fix, the rest is on the third party companies; meaning it's them who should make it compatible for samsung. Your message in this video didn't come through so clear; I'd actually enjoy if you remake it and address this issue from another perspective because the conclusion is still the same; if you are into professional video making which requires third party gadgets, samsung shouldn't be ur first choice and this is despite the fact that samsung's camera is astonishing even though there are problems with it

What gimbal would recommend for the S21 Ultra as im considering one, my choices would have been the Osmo 4 or the Zhiyun Smooth 4, not really into video but think a gimbal might help photograph stability.

OM4 is amazing but it has one huge disadvantage, you can't change gimbal modes with a button. So you have constantly to jump back and forth between default camera app and dji app. I never tested the Smooth 4 but I have tested other Zhiyun gimbals so it should be pretty nice. I would check out Moza Mini MX - I tested that one and I were very happy with everything. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the 12 Pro Max and the moza app is not great but the gimbal is fully operational through the buttons and you don't have to use the moza app at alll

I already took my phone to my local samsung service center, they did changed the camera hardware, but still didnt change. but one thing that made me confuse, this blurry quality in super steady mode video was found better in normal lens than the wide angle lens. yes i know, maybe i dont use super steady mode very often, but i find it stil useful for my shaky hands, and also, i'm very disappointed because the super steady mode in Note 10 + and S20+ (my family members got them), is much better, why does this newer version get worse. and also my wide angle camera for the back camera, is a bit not sharp. any suggestions? because i did type "S21 blurry super steady mode video" in google, and many people experience it too

Check that one amzn.to/3ecoF0n Moza Mini MX. The gimbal app is not good but you can control the gimbal with the buttons. The motors are very responsive. Unfortunately, it is too small for my iPhone 12 Max but I think it will fit with the s21 ultra. OM4 is good but you will have to jump back and forth between the camera app and OM app to change settings and it is very annoying

The exynos performs better at some things but all around the the 888 is better. I think once AMD makes the GPU for Exynos they will be superior. Only time will tell though.
