Yes since Genis is my main, I noticed that too. Unfortunately, only after I had finished my video. Really disappointed, since Cyclone always looked so cool and had a massive AOE. I swear this “remaster”… 😩

@@KortrexArts Cyclone's animation always tanked the framerate in the Gamecube version, so.... I guess that was their "solution" to it? Also, it's water-element for some reason.

yeah I figured this too… Although kinda pathetic if you have to change something from a 20 year old game just so your modern console isn’t going up in flames 🙃 Yeah I noticed that too… it does make the water sound effect when it hits enemies… very strange decision tbh.

Those Twitter statements are such bull. The pop in issues are visible within the first hour of gameplay, the framerate issue at the ruins isn't too far after. It's like alpha testing, never mind beta testing, ever took place. A fundamental retooling is required and a patch here or there won't do. I actually had high hopes anticipating the remaster. The PlayStation iterations downgraded the battle fidelity from 60 fps to 30 fps but that was offset with sooooo much additional content, no one would complain. The PlayStation 3 release even included the sequel to the game! I was hoping to see Bandai Namco release a definitive remaster with the additional content plus a workaround to the battle engine issue... not this sorry excuse for a cash grab.

massively agree. What bugs me even more is that the "Tales of Series" Twitter account stated they would "continue to work on keeping (us) posted on updates while the team works towards resolutions". However, it has been over a month now and they haven't addressed anything else. It is a real shame that they released this half-assed remaster in the first place, but it is even more of a shame that they don't seem to make an effort to actually fix it or at least communicate it. I'm over 100h of playtime, and there is still no update...

This goes right into my feels my dad is & was into gaming, pc gaming. He got 2 games at Walmart for 5€, without knowing these were 10/10 games: Baten Kaitos & Tales of Symphonia for GameCube. I have hopes the game gets fixed development is in progress. Media says. Great video Humor & a save for me to buy it at full price cause of nostalgia. The mirror explode effect is burned into my memories. I had multiple strokes this flickering light fucks me up completely hurting my eyes a lot. This is horror right now on Switch what a bummer. :( Thanks for the information contained. I heard the GameCube code got lost or something & the remaster is build up from the PS2 version which was the version used for PC too which is locked at 30. 😢

Yeah it is a shame what treatment this remaster has received, especially since the original game had such a huge impact on many people. Let's hope they will patch some / most / all of these issues out in the future. Glad you enjoyed the video though. If these things will be patched out, I will definitely do a video on why this game is so special and well beloved, but alas we need to wait for patches now...

I’ve been playing the game now for 70 hours and I’m still having fun despite all the negative points. Let’s just hope the’ll be patched out or something to make the gameplay experience better. But I’m sure you can still enjoy it. It’s my all time favorite game for a reason 😊

Short version: It's an overpriced "shitty" and probably buggy RE-Re-RE-Release... (GameCube; PS2; Chronicles; Switch (FINALLY ACTALLY CALLED REMASTER)) Right? Seriously... Who needs 60 FPS? It makes Battles so damn fast and "unfamiliar" and realy ISNT worth ANOTHER FULL PRICE RE-release... XD IF you realy NEED it... get yourself ANY Version of Chronicles... there you have BOTH Games for ONE price ;)

you’re welcome. Yeah I think qol is especially important in remasters where it should feel inherently better than the original, which in this case fails miserably… Let’s hope for patches, although I don’t believe these errors can all be patched out tbh

I'm glad I saw that it was on GameCube. Definitely not buying it for the switch. Plus what's really cool to me is that it's in 2 disc. I love buying GameCube games like that. Awesome review and thanks for the warning.

totally agree. I actually also bought an english copy of the gamecube game recently just to have it in English and also cause I like the two discs and cover a lot. Glad you liked the review 😊

Don't worry i bought the PS4 version which i havn't started yet. I am playing my pile of shame right now. I will see someday in the future how well the PS4 version will run on the PS5. If you still worried: I have the Gamecube version aswell with a functional gamecube. Side Note: All this yeah *ALL THIS* has happened only because Bamco lost the Gamecube sourcecode for ToS and has to use the PS2 sourcecode. But it's still funny that the PS3 version runs way better than the Switch version.

As far as I know, they haven’t fixed the PS4 version either. Which is laughable and definitely hurts their trustworthiness for next remakes. But please let me know once you play it on the PS5. And yes I heard that about them losing the Gamecube source code… god if that isn’t just straight up laughable. It’s also funny how the Gamecube version ran MUCH better than the current PS4 / Switch version 🙃

Yeah most of the issues are more noticeable for me cause I played it so many times on previous consoles (GC, PS3). No, it is just the base game. Tales of Symphonia Chronicles also included the sequel, which this one doesn't.

I'm not happy about this either. I was so happy about this remaster and it's literally an awful port. The game is barely playable but better than nothing I guess. We better get a really great patch that fixes most of the issues. I can't believe I paid $50 for this crap.

It’s such a shame that this is the second time bandai namco / Tales of have done a port for this game, and they still don’t care about improving the game, or “remastering” the game and the gameplay. Let’s pray for patches for this, but since it has almost been a month with radio silence, I’m less and less hopeful…

Hello, I loved the video but I have a question regarding the multiplayer. In the game cube version you could play multiplayer, so I wanted to ask if you could also play multiplayer on the nintendo switch? And if so, can you play with one controller or does it have to be with both?

I haven’t buy Tales of symphonia, yet. 😫 However I’m sad it’s the Same design tales of symphonia 2003 in every tales of symphonia it’s always the same design 2003 to 2023 and nothing change. 😞 Still I really wish Tales of symphonia gets remake with Tales of Berseria’s design. Would be really amazing and better. Still I really wish.

yup. especially since this game takes more than one play-through to 100% complete, which makes sitting through all the cutscenes a bit more tedious. I’m still hopeful for the patches but the more time passes, the more pessimistic I become. 😔
