Hi Jeremy, It's Don here from Hamilton NZ on my Wife's tablet-SUSAN, what a great subject to discuss, Iv'e been playing guitar for 60 years now, never could afford the best, so put up with old S/hand instrument's untill my responsibility's lessened ( as a Father of 6 children & a Beautiful Wife) I gradually could afford better guitar's, found out ( from a Luthier) how to improve them-did that to them, finally brought a Solid/top, improved it's sound & Now it's the Equal to guitar's 10×'s its price, guess who winning Now...?😊😊😊

That’s why I have trouble buying new or slightly used guitars that are expensive and don’t already play great. I’ve setup cheaper instruments and they play infinitely better. How can I justify anything more expensive if it plays worse? Good on you mate. Keep the great players you made that way.

Definitely get what you are saying. I bought a Jazzmaster Pro when they first came (still love it) and then the Jazzmaster Pro II came out and I am like "hey! That's one better!" I also have a Gary Clark Jr sg signature model in yellow and absolutely love that one too. I think it's one of the exceptions to the rule though as they have steadily gone up in value since release. Thanks for another awesome video!!

Provenance in musical instruments is an interesting concept for me. It’s also kind of funny. I guess some people gaf about that, I don’t other than the history, but I don’t put a price on it. Unless it’s a special construction, meh. Thanks for your great videos!

Found a Shifty tele last year for $899 - liked it (except MIM cheese grater end frets) as I needed a non-metal spec'd guitar but sold it off once I found a Nash Guitar T-63 a few months later.

Most guitar come out, then leave the market and only have the used price which is a bit lower then either stay where they're at or go up in value depending on the guitar. I think it was Philip McKnight I heard say that the number of discontinued guitars out there stays the same, but the number of their fans go up, which is why there's a good time to buy signature guitars. After they drop, but before they have a chance to go up. I tend to agree with that. There's one out there I have been waiting for a good deal on for a bit, but I haven't found it during COVID and think they're starting to go up a bit.

No, I doubt it'll affect used price very quickly. Even so, it's a small drop in price, right?

@@JeremySheppard 20% is not a small drop. I’d expect it to immediately affect prices. Shoppers aren’t stupid. It brings the guitars down to $650 so $450 for used seems about right given normal discounts off new for used guitars in that price range. Kind of invalidates the point of your video wrt the PRS.

I'll keep an eye out, I really doubt it will affect the used prices very quickly. I'm sure they'll level off to the $500 range and we'll all be better off for it. The current sale on SE's comes from PRS having massive orders cancelled by guitar center and Sweetwater. Fender is experiencing the same thing with tens of thousands of guitars unsold and not ordered by dealers.
