I had the digital version of the original PS5 so this was enticing to me. I was able to sell my digital for $400 on Facebook marketplace which is what I originally paid for it excluding tax, so I felt really good upgrading to this new slim. I love it but I understand why if you have the OG PS5 disc version there is no need to upgrade at all.

For this to work, they would have to go the Xbox way, use an emulator to simulate an older consoles. It doesn't seem Sony is going that way, it looks like they prefer porting the games individually. The PS3 was an exception, because the first models literally had a PS2 chip inside to run those games. But they removed it in later revisions, backwards compatibility thus disappeared.

Actually is , this is the 3rd generation dude so it wouldn't be the same . Who ever bought the first batch is stupid because unlike the second generation which is literally the same as the first they just fixed the overheating problem , how loud it gets etc . My slim makes no noise what so ever & it's a lot smaller. Every playstation since PS2 had a slim version

I just traded in my 2.5 year old PS5 Digital for $350 to GameStop for the PS5 slim with disk drive, Spider-Man 2 edition (I didn't want to have to deal with selling the old one on eBay or Facebook marketplace, so I was cool with getting nearly what I paid for it in trade.) Regarding the stand - I store mine vertically and it seems pretty stable to me without one. From the pictures on line of the stand, I don't see how it adds that much more stability anyway. And though the additional $30 is not really a problem, I think it is kind of scummy that they are now charging for it. Mine is not in a place where I am likely to knock it over, so I think I will do without.

Finally picked up a PS5 original disc edition a couple of days ago at a local Gamestop. After 2yrs unsuccessfully trying to get one, I gave up. I refused to pay resaler prices also. My personal issues with it are that You have to pay $30 for a stand that was already included in the previous model and that when you attach the disk drive You have to be connected to the internet for it to register. Those are basically my grips with it, But anyone who doesn't really care More power to ya.

Have had my ps4 pro for nearly 6 years, and the charm of my first day playing hasnt worn off. The ps5 slim visually does not appeal to me. Although I'm tempted to buy it, I still have a massive games catalogue to get through. I can wait a couple more years until a Pro version is on the horizon.

You forgot to mention the 1 TB storage over the 825gb, which may not seem like a lot, but after formatting 825gb you only get 667gb which isnt a lot, so the extra 175 is welcome, considering thats 2-4 more games you can add before you upgrade an SSD. Also the extra USB C allows for charging your controller but also plugging in a Playstation VR 2 headset. I honestyly wouldnt advise standing up a PS5 with no stand like that, because youre blocking ventilation that does emit a small amount of heat. May be insignificant, but i never run my ps5 vertical, ever, and mine still works after 11 months.

I picked up the new PS5 slim and I love the compact size since I don't have much room on my stand as is. The slim also came with 1TB compared to the OG with only 825GB. I've also added 3 extra cooling fans in the back and love the quietness even with the extra fans. For those contemplating to get the slim or not. I recommend it, the performance is literally the same as the OG so you're not losing out on anything. The 4 panels on the slim are also alot easier to remove. Literally just lift up and the panels pop right off. Very convenient when time to clean out dust. Everything on the slim was built to make everything easier and convenient for the players, I don't think they made it easy to remove the disc drive because it won't last long. That would completely kill Sony's reputation and sales so it won't make sense. Easy is just more convenient. I have no regrets with the slim.

If I didn't love Xbox over PS I'd say the design is very cool. The slim 5, is certainly not as small compared to the fat version as prior year models. I cannot believe Sony doesn't give you both stands with your purchase. Good grief how greedy that sounds. You can sure see how they copied Microsoft with the new controller though. I do have a PS2 slim and did have the old PS2 fat, way back. And truly can appreciate the newer controller of the PS over the old original. The new modular styling is a great touch. Being able to just pop off a component and replace it or repair it, is a very nice feature. I know my grandson has a PS4 and enjoys it. My biggest reason for switching to Xbox was, backwards compatibility. And graphics. The 360 was better in graphics and a larger storage. But I have nothing against the PS. Competition is good for keeping businesses doing a better job.

I think the conclusion I’ve come to is getting the original, just because I prefer the design and it has better cooling and it’s been out for 3 years and everyone says it runs just how it did when they first got it. The only thing convincing me to get the slim was the extra storage but you can install that if needed. I’ve always had the original consoles and never had issues with them. Either way the slim is just as good so it’s down to which design you prefer really

The only slight disadvantage to the removable disk drive is..... no one would ever under any circumstances remove it. Now, you might buy one in the future but i highly doubt if you went digital youre the type that would ever need it.

The orignal ps5 have a( lan cable disconnect) problem because the port i mean entrance of the cable is big so cable connection is unstable you can’t play online games on unstable connection, Is the new ps5 slim have the same problem or they fixed it ?

already did (first ps5) coming soon but its kewl that we got kewl plates, usb c, and stuff does it really matter if i need to register a disk drive? I HAVE A GAMING ROUTER. idk the only downside ever is.... me needing to use switchers, due to me normally using USB-A and it uses USB-C now

This makes me worry about the PS5 Pro requiring net connection to play physichal games....unless they go back to the og PS5 offline method

After the supply of OG PS5 run out people will have zero choice other than to buy the new slim model. I never had a PS5 so I went with the Slim MW3 bundle. Honestly the glossy covers don’t bother me. I set my console up and don’t touch it on a regular basis. I don’t see the reason to do so and if I did I would simply wipe off any fingerprints.

I got the slim for christmas. I didnt even know it was the slim cause it doesnt say it on the box😂. But i like it and play it more than my series x

Thats freakin disgusting charging the same £500$ for a new console, then adding an extra $/£30 for a vertical stand.. that comes as standard in the original box.. .. Im so Thankful i bought my 12 series just a few weeks ago, before Sony withdrew it. Shocking

i have both slim and fat and they both ok but i prefer slim. its smaller size makes it more cool to have. the slim drive verification is a one time thing then u can use it offline.

I have the Slim and i really like the smaller size compared to the OG PS5. It is much more subtle in my livingroom than the OG for sure!
