Hi Tom, I became aware of the DC-1 from Daylight Computer via KZbin at the end of May 2024. One of the special features here: a "paperlike" display with 60Hz. No jerky display like e-ink. It would be great if you had the opportunity to take a closer look at it. Greetings from Germany.

You got a tab device which is more geared toward a pc tablet. The Note and go devices are more for notes and reading with magnetic stylus and textured screens.

interesting video thanks, BUT you mentioned that this BOOX costs 900-1000$ ?? that is crazy ... the remarkable you can buy for $300-$400... depending on the accesoires you buy with it. i still stay with my remarkable 2 for now. By the way is there any e-ink tablet that makes it possible to put all markings /underlinings in an ebook stored in a seperate file or place, so you can have kind of a summary of your ebook ?

Well, the markings/underlinings summary you're mentioning is exactly what I've pointed out makes Boox better than a reMarkable. Also, there is no subscription that you need to pay and there are cheaper versions available too. So yes, reMarkable is cheaper. But then don't ask for features like highlighting in ebooks 😁

What's the software update policy of boox? Do they really provide security updates for more than a year? This is really inportant to know before putting down 400usd or😅 more

Entering text on a notebook is a feature with the mobile apps on remarkable that I haven’t seen with Boox or supernote. Would move over if Boox added that. Have you found a way ?

Which model is this? TabX? It doesn't look like a recent model, like the smaller Note Air or Boox GO. Non-Boox note apps mostly suck [in my limited experience] with poor writing lag but the built-in Notes app is pretty good. Heptabase is definitely usable for reading PDFs, for example. I use mine [Note Air 3] mostly for reading but it seems to offer much more than the Remarkable. Kindle and Kobo apps are both good on these devices. My model will be slower than the Tab X as the Tab X has a rapid screen refresh to hide ghosting in the e-ink. This costs battery life, so while it makes the Note Air look sluggish, a battery change lasts a week for me!

Would like to see Tom demo Heptabase on the e-ink
@impulsesystems2 ай бұрын
@@karmmark888 Agreed. Let's see it, Tom! I haven't tested much but I was pleasantly surprised. Hand-writing is converted to screen text quite quickly, probably because the Boox is doing the conversion. With OneNote, I think the app is doing it; and it is very slow.

Hey @impulsesystems & @karmmark888 I've tested Heptabase on BOOX and here are my thoughts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYiXpJywi8mtfM0
