I have very large hands to put it in comparison, I wear 2 XL football gloves and have very long fingers and I love the switch I never cramp up and I have played for sessions as long as 3 hours already. I got this so i can play animal crossing and other switch games. And im surprised bc its really good quality and i wouldnt even have used the docking feature at least one time

If they make a switch that is actually better like for example ps4 pro or new 3DS Xbox one X and all that then I may just get it, but it is basically like the Nintendo variant of the ps4 slim or the xbox one S. Its not really different in any meaningful way where it counts which to me is graphical performance and power. I would rather have that then a smaller system with a marginally better battery life which from what I have researched is really the only thing going for it.

I honestly don't know how you can claim that Nintendo didn't target people who purchase both consoles. If they didn't want you buying the original EVERY game would be supported on the Mini. This is like saying that Sony didn't intend PS Vita owners to purchase a PSTV. It's a add-on gimmick to the original, and if it wasn't they wouldn't entice you into spending that extra $100 just so the entire game library actually functions. This is from the company that charges you to play p2p multiplayer so yeah I can't say I'm surprised. This is like buying the PSTV instead of the Vita, AKA stupid.

I've seen so many KZbinrs doing this and I don't understand it. The Switch Lite is not meant to be used alongside another Switch, you're supposed to use one or the other. There's no need to go and buy a portable version of your already portable console to use on the go. Just take the regular Switch with you, the Lite offers no benefit other than slightly reduced width - even that doesn't make much of a difference if you use a carrying case, as most Lite cases are about the same size as a regular Switch case. The single thing that the Lite offers over the standard Switch is the D-Pad. The Switch Lite is the only way to have a D-Pad in handheld mode - except that it isn't because Hori sell a D-Pad Joy-Con _exclusively_ for use in handheld mode. If you already own a Switch, *do not* buy a Switch Lite. If you don't own a Switch, only buy the Switch Lite if you have *absolutely* zero desire to play anything in multiplayer or on a TV. The Switch Lite is not a bad system, but it will seem like one if you're not using it for its intended purpose.

It's just classic Nintendo is the point. Cloud saves across multiple systems should not be a complicated situation. When I open KZbin on my phone my app doesn't say, click here to download your latest KZbin searches and history from your PC. It just does it. So does an Xbox. Your signed into a profile, if you go to play a game it should auto search for latest cloud saves and download. Simple. I mean video even shows there is literally a loading screen that says "checking to see if this game is playable." It could also just check for cloud saves right then as well and this whole video becomes uneccessary. Crazy silly old Nintendo. And if people want multiple Nintendo switchs... Why not? My switch is over 2.5 years old now. That's a long time for a tablet. I was just thinking about trading it in for a new one before it broke down. But to hear I could instead keep my old switch safe at home and use an even more portable version in handheld and on the go... Sounds like heaven. But now I learn it has to be inconvenient because... why? Nintendo once again can't hammer down another simple online function? I get your line of thinking. But gaming is my life. Multiple hours a day. I have a overnight job with tons of down time and my current switch feels bulky, doesn't fit well in my pocket and is getting old. To a lot of people that smaller width AND height is a big deal. And it comes at just the right time. I am stoked there is a smaller switch available for a cheaper price. Again I hear you. But what your saying to me is "don't buy a second coat, just wear the heavier one you already have." But I also agree I don't think this makes the lite a bad system and people should be advised not to buy it. Cloud save situation Is inconvenient and unnecessary though. And the answer is not "OG switch owners shouldn't be buying anyway".

@@jesse1086 Nintendo consoles have never had this feature. From day one to now, people have known that the Switch is not intended to transfer data freely between two systems. Up until this point, everyone accepted it. There's no reason to use two consoles simultaneously. Nintendo made it clear that the Switch Lite is essentially a Switch with less features, therefore it uses the same firmware. Why would a system that uses an identical interface suddenly support synchronized save data? This is nothing new and Nintendo gave no reason for people to have expected the feature. People that are surprised and shocked that this is not a feature should have done their homework before opening their wallets. The form factor should make no difference in the portability of either console. Any space that is capable of housing the Switch Lite is also room enough for the original Switch. In some cases, the original is actually far more portable; I can fit a pair of Joy-Con in one pocket and the console in the other far more easily than I can fit a device with the dimensions of the Switch Lite in one pocket. And the Switch will not 'break down.' It's not a tablet or a phone that's built with planned obsolescence - should you take correct care of it, it'll last you at least twenty years before doing whatever you seem to believe happens to a device over 2 years old.

Personally, I do not find issue with the Switch Lite being handheld only. I think it was apparent that it would not have the TV docking feature so I can't fault it for that. Similarly to you, I plan on keeping my OG Switch docked(or around the house) and my Switch Lite on the go. While I do see a validity to your points, I use it in a different way. I love handheld gaming more so than console gaming but I'm sure you can agree not all games are suited for console gaming and vice versa. A notable example is Fire Emblem, I find playing it much better on the console, although it's serviceable in handheld mode. That said, I felt that the Switch wasn't much of handheld, it did not feel good in my hands, i.e. the controls were not comfortable, was bulky, and the battery left a lot to be desired. The Switch Lite is tailored to handheld and for that reason, I think some games work better for it and I prefer it. So I guess my main point is that I am "dividing" my library between console and handheld. Games like Wargroove, Into the Breach, Dead Cells, Collection of Mana would suit me better on the Switch Lite, while the aforementioned Fire Emblem and Breath of the Wild, are better suited for the docked, console mode. As I said, the experience on handheld mode is serviceable, but I feel better playing it on the console. As far as Switch Online is concerned, I can't disagree with what you said, the service is horrendous. I don't tend to play many games and typically focus on one at a time so for me is not much of an inconvenience. To add to that, I prefer my collection to be physical whenever possible so for me is also not a big issue. I also have a tendency to never use sleep mode, so whenever I'm not using a console, I turn it off, negating the issue that persists if you have both on and the primary console is playing a digital game. So yes, I love the Switch Lite, I like having both systems at my disposal as for me I like the portability of the system but I understand why you, or others, might not feel the same way.

@@novaclips2883 It really depends on what you want to play in my opinion. The obvious is if you want Nintendo exclusives, go for the Switch, and if you want Sony exclusives, go for the PS3. Not sure if you meant PS4 but the point stands all the same. Switch has a fine selection of indie games if that is up your alley, and has the added bonus of portability if that appeals to you. That's not to say that you won't find indie games on the Playstation Network. If you are looking for online gaming and more AAA titles like Call of Duty, FIFA, and the sort, I think the PS3 is better fitted for you. Keep in mind, I'm sure most people have moved on to the PS4 so maybe you won't find much in the way of online gaming on the PS3, but I can be wrong. Also the PS3 doesn't have a games or at best, just a small amount being developed for it and those are yearly sports titles I imagine, while the Switch still has games being developed for it.

Zeparu, I have a question that I hope you can help me with. I just got a switch and only want to play in handheld but I find it extremely uncomfortable and unnatural in some games. Donkey kong side scrolling isn't too bad but trying to play fast rmx was near impossible. I had to change controls because i just couldn't do it. my question is, would you say it's a lot easier on the switch lite? My main problem with switch with joy cons is that the left analog stick is really high and the right is placed really low on joy con and trying to place my thumbs there feels impossible and trying to do that to control my player and camera and trying to place my index fingers on the triggers feels even worse. Very awkward. I hope I get used I it. At least if switch lite feels more comfortable then I could at least play in comfort with workable controls and keep old switch just for tv.

Honestly this comment section (and this video) is the saddest thing I've witnessed on KZbin and a clear example as to how spoiled people are in this world. Nintendo made the Switch, which is meant to be a mobile console originally, and it still is. Based on price and features, Nintendo wanted to make a more affordable console, obviously withdrawing some features of the original console as the sales need to still continue with that. So anyone complaining that it's not dock-able to TV, get an original switch. End of story. Anyone complaining that it's not a Switch (because you need to find something to complain about) It's part of the switch family, that still plays Nintendo Switch Games. Anyone that complains about the "long" process of being able to swap cloud saves, be thankful it can be done, so clean your big boy tears. Sure it's cumbersome, but you would think a multi billion dollar company would be more concerned about the fact of protecting your save data when swapping devices, than the process of doing it for the .001% of this world that even cares to own two mobile consoles that play the same games.. I still love my switch lite because it's the only switch I own and I love portability but I completely understand your struggle with going between two different consoles Here's an idea: In the settings set your switch lite to your primary console and use the system for ONLY digital games Then on your regular switch use it for ONLY physical games

The only physical copies we have are Mario Kart and BOTW, so since they don’t really play those anymore, that wouldn’t work. But if one only plays on the switch and the other only plays on the switch lite, would that work? I don’t want to go out and buy a switch lite only to find out that they still have to take turns playing, especially on long drives.

Elly Claire if they're two different people then there shouldn't be any problems as you can just have both kids make two separate accounts Meaning they can both play any game they want at the same time The only issue is that if they don't already have two accounts then the one who doesn't have an account would have to buy games all over again Depending on how many games they have on their switch would determine if it's worth it If they have like 5 games then yes buying a switch lite for the other kid is worth it because they could make their own account and buy different games If they have 20+ games then it wouldn't be worth it because one kid would have to start with 0 games and it'd be a whole other investment Either way I'm sure Nintendo will eventually release an update where this is no longer an issue. I understand that for families money is a problem and having one of your kids start buying games from scratch may be annoying so other options are to wait until Nintendo releases an update or potentially deactivate the current switch and then hack it to get free games Anyway I know this was a long answer but your four choices are: Buy them a switch lite so one kid would make another account to get different games on if they have less than 15 games Don't buy them a switch lite if they have more than 15 games Wait for Nintendo to release an update that fixes this problem Factory reset their current switch and then proceed to hack it in order to make every game on it free, then buy a switch lite where they can use the legitimate account so they don't lose any games I hope that helps and you'll find a solution that fits you.

The way I saw the Switch Lite was for people who didn’t care about having the Features of the Switch and just wanted to have the portable version. Nintendo didn’t necessarily say “the switch lite is to replace (or enhance) the experience of your already purchased OG Switch”. Yeah, if you’re going on a vacation or something for a few days, then it’s not so much a hassle to transfer everything from your main switch to the lite and just carry the lite, but it seems redundant to get the switch lite when you have the OG for everyday game play. Should just carry the OG. Maybe it’s the common sense in me that told me “wait for the portable only version of the switch because I don’t want to carry a clunky console everywhere I go and worry about loose pieces. I also don’t care about playing Pokémon on a TV screen” Idk. To each their own though.

I think the Switch Lite is cool as a dedicated handheld, assuming you don't already own a Switch. For $200, it's a pretty sweet handheld. BUT if you already own a Switch I personally just don't see the point. It's smaller but still not small so imo just a tad more portable than a Switch. It's not like a 3ds in terms of size. I know a lot of people only use their Switch in handheld and never use tabletop, but maybe I'm the exact customer Nintendo designed the Switch for. The first week I had it, my brother and I were playing MarioKart in tabletop while traveling through Japan on trains. It was amazing. Then when I got home I'd use it docked about 50% of the time, the other 50% chilling in bed or on the couch. I've pulled it out at parties and played Towerfall in tabletop with like 5 people and it was awesome. The ability for it to be a console/TV for multiplayer use is what sold me on it and I do actually use it that way fairly often.

Lol you are using the Switch just like the people in the Switch commercials Nintendo released before the launch of the system. That's impressive. Personally none of my friends are interested in Nintendo games if I wanted to play together and I am not sure how viable the separate Joy-cons are for local multiplayer anyway because they are really small and I don't think I will carry the straps everywhere. That's why I am gravitating towards the cheaper more portable Switch and that built-in d-pad because of all the 2D side scroller games on Switch.

Most of my friends don't really play video games so Nintendo games are kinda the perfect style games for them and so the multiplayer aspect of the OG switch is something I use a lot. The joy cons certainly aren't great controllers for a lot of games, but they're totally fine for Mario Kart, Towerfall, Overcooked, things like that. I have a case that can fit the switch, a comfort grip, the straps, several games and two extra joy-cons. Although it's only "portable" in that it easily fits into my backpack.

Download of save files only takes about two button presses and takes just a couple of seconds to download. Upload is automatic. It's not a deal breaker for me. Nintendo could fix it so it downloads automatically down the road.

hey while i agree, Nintendo is absolutely incompetent and greedy all these problems would be avoided had he just closed dead cells. Regarding the cloud forcing the most recent save, its a double edged sword. Some games only have 1 save slot and you may be playing a different run on the other system. So if it forces the most recent save without warning its going to overwrite your file. My suggestion is like the Vita, when the game launches have an overlay on the OS level that gives you the option on which save to use before anything is overwritten.

I believe that you are seriously understating how much you lose getting a Lite vs how little you gain. The Lite is barely smaller and still isnt pocketable, so if i have to get a carry case for my portable either way, why not get the one that can be docked and joycons for multiplayer etc. Also, they didnt change anything else to even get close to pocketability, so yeah its barely smaller, but also still has protruding sticks (how about 3ds sliders, or sticks that can collapse smaller), and the back L2 R2 still stick out pretty far (why not change to a horizontal orientation like 3ds/GPD). so its obvious, they did almost nothing to make this different in any way, except take away a ton of features and give back a little weight loss, all for what, 100 less? You can get a used normal switch for 200 now.

If you don't care about docking, the massive improvement is form factor is worth it. Having a real d-pad means that platformers are playable in handheld mode as well, and those two things could make the switch lite the one to get even ignoring the price difference. The two models are for different people, and neither is strictly better than the other.

I love the Lite, and keep the Lite with me on the road and the OG at home, it’s a terrific unit and it’s all about preference don’t let this idiot persuade you otherwise. Games sync perfectly through the cloud. You’re making a big deal about this over nothing. Once you learn how to do it you only have to upload the updated data on the game you play before you launch it, literally takes seconds. I get it Nintendo should make it easier and more automatic or update all games button but stop exaggerating. People like to bitch and complain about the stupidest and simplest things. You can't play your games that you bought on two Switches at once. You bought a single-user license. It doesn't matter that you were playing Dead Cells on one and tried to play Into the Breach on another. They don't allow you to use games purchased from your account on multiple Switch units at the same time so that you can't game share with others. This, honestly, should have been obvious. Now, of course, it would be nice if you could, at least on two systems at once (like PS4/XB1), but I'm shocked Nintendo are as close with the times as they are, honestly. If you closed Dead Cells on the Lite, you would have found that you could play your other game on the Switch. But really, what it comes down to is, the Lite is a bad choice for people who switch between docked and handheld often. The point of the Switch is it can do either, so you want one system to do that. For people like me, who use handheld 80+% of the time, the Lite is fantastic.

Right? Nintendo literally made the switch to be great for home and on the go, and now folks are buying the lite to take on the go so there switch, which is designed to be mobile, can stay home? Next maybe they will make a TV only switch so we can have all 3!

You can swap saves between switches. Cloud saves and non cloud save games you can transfer. Problem solved

I have both. The first switch i was using it only in handled mode, almost never detached the joycons. For me is better the lite version. It is lighter and smaller. Is wrong to say is not worth it cause it depends. If you can afford to buy the light, you are having cramps on your hands in handled mode, and you play exclusively in handled mode, I would say go for it even if you have the first one.

I am *VERY AGAINST* Monthly Online Suscriptions. At soon you buy a game with Online Multiplayer it should be a *FREE RIGHT* to play it Online for Free. But I also must admit that if you go with the Familiar/Group option the Nintendo Online Service costs you only 5€/5$USD (you only need to find 7 other people). Tetris 99 + NES + SNES + Cloud Backup saves (even if the games that requires this the most, will not be compatible with) are worth enough to pay 5€ for 1 year. I can't find anyway to save the other services for cost over than 1 whole new videogame at release...

Very thorough. I'm really glad you covered the registration issues with the Switch: Nintendo really needs to "get with the times" for multiple console owners. Switching Wii-U's was a nightmare as well. Great video!

Good thing you took it back after two days because another day or so you might be talking about the drift problem too LUL Switch that doesnt have a kickstand no dock and cant hand a joy con to a friend... So a year later do you have the same thoughts? I just bought a Lite. Mostly for my grand daughter to play. I was thinking of getting me one and just sharing games so I reckon I'll run into this issue. From what I understand the "save" files are on the internal memory and thus why you have to dl each one. What I don't understand is from what I hear, your 2nd devise must be connected to the internet to run games. If I own 2 Lites and download games and saves to both. ... why does one need the internet?

To anyone who getting a switch lite I recommend getting a normal switch or the red box switch because of the controller drift with the lite you probably gotta send your switch in to get repaired but with a regular switch it may be $70 but you can replace the drifting Joy-Con
