I repair and restore leather goods (aka shoes and bags) for a living, and must say that the worst I have encountered is Balenciaga bags. The leather is thinner than paper and is glued onto cardboard, which then disintegrates when being used. And then the leather tears. I've seen Primark bags that are better quality.

ColoringKaria because people who aren’t as knowledgeable about big designer brands or are trying to get premium designer products won’t know how to spot a bad product, and reviews like this help those people see what’s worth the money and what isn’t. Also, most high fashion designer labels do not issue refunds.
@ColoringKaria5 жыл бұрын
@@pavladavlas actually thats not true. they all have some kind of refund policy. you just usually have a few days 7 or 14. but if product is defective almost all these brands LV, hermes, chanel will offer an exchange or repair up to 1 year free of charge and a repair for a fee from then on. some repairs are even free. ColoringKaria in what world is a repair equal to a 100% refund?
@ColoringKaria5 жыл бұрын
Ok I’m rereading what I wrote. Nope I didn’t say that. I *DID* say that If she had a problem with the quality she could take it in for a refund *OR* repair (which sometimes means they just give you a new one). No one should use something and expect a full refund. But if it’s brand new and there is a problem with quality a refund or repair will be offered. If she’s had it for years than no refund should be expected but a repair often for free will be offered. I also *did* say that your claim that refunds are never offered is false. If the item is new usually less than 2 weeks old a refund will be offered if the product is resellable or if it is defective. I know this to be a 100% fact. That does not mean that a repair/replacement/refund are the same thing (Apparently that’s a thing that needs to be said.) depending on the age and condition of the product you will get offered one or more of those options.

She sounds like my Mum. Growing up, my Mum worked on Bank St and we lived in north London. I remember Mum would dress normally at home with us, but her work clothes were so posh and we weren't allowed anywhere near her work gear. I remember her on the phone ripping into a shop with her dry observations and calm tone. They zipper on a work dress had been repaired by them twice and had broken a third time. As an adult, I realize just how expensive her work clothes were. My Dad was a fireman in London and was retired from the military, we got to play with his work gear, I thought she was just being a bitch. But hey, we got to play with gas masks, and pull on suspender yellow rubber trousers and all sorts of stuff. I've learned to appreciate my mother didn't have a large wardrobe of clothes, but a limited selection of high quality clothes that she saved up for and planned carefully.

Vegan “leather” is PLASTIC. So you are correct, that’s why it feels and sounds like that way. It is “polyvinyl chloride” or PVC, which is another word for plastic. Or polyurethane which is (shocker) also plastic. Never pay the luxury price for vegan leather because it is literally just not worth it unfortunately:( If you are vegan and care about the environment and of course don’t support animal cruelty do not but vegan leather because it is not biodegradable anyway so a good alternative is a cotton bag or a cork bag :) hope this helps!

I love animals but I supporting having leather and even fur. Sorry, fur is the warmest and most durable material for cold winters and lasts more than a lifetime . With leather, people eat meat so it's the leftovers of an animal. With fake leather and fake fur, their production itself is toxic and done in poor countries abusing poor workers and the waste is being dumped into the nature. So... It's not even better alternative! What's is the best option? Having quality things that will last you more than 10 years, be it fake or real. Fake, though, from many experiences and countless testimonies, isn't worth it. Not yet. But the technology is getting better, so, keep the mind open.

This is my unbiased view: High Polish Metal finishing are prone to scratches. Luxury items are not indestructible. They're just as prone to damage and deterioration as a $30 item. A lot of Luxury fashion houses don't have "in-house" artisans. Most of them source from third party artisans. As for metal accessories, precious metal plated brass/silver components: the electroplating can rub off pretty fast since they're not capped and friction due to design flaw can accelerate wear. Remember that most of these luxury items are nothing more but status symbols and designs that you enjoy wearing. If you really want to wear metal accessories or jewelries then go for solid precious metal alloy. As for leather goods, that's up to you but know that "luxury" leather goods will age like "lower-tier" leather goods. They're the same material.
@SimonFanProductions5 жыл бұрын
@WakinTheDeadFan Precious metal such as gold, palladium, rhodium, iridium, platinum, and tantalum in alloy form are hard enough that they're not malleable enough so they can maintain shape and they're inert so they don't tarnish or oxidize. I don't know what's "affordable" to your personal definition and standard so I'm staying away from that context.

They send the earrings to Paris...! Wouldn't they just replace the earrings ? For that money! It can't be worth the postage. @angeladobine1454 жыл бұрын
And the people who purchase luxury bags just to be in the spotlight of luxury items, tend to try and downgrade on people who spend their monies wisely. You can purchase dupe/ or replica that look identical to the real thing, without having to spend ALL your savings to purchase a luxury bag. WHY NOT PURCHASE A DUPE/ REPLICA AND KEEP THE 1000's in that same dupe/ replica you just bought. Now who's the Wiser???

Thanks for this advice. What I’ve learnt is High designer brands these days have become so commercial that it’s all about the bottom line. How much money they can make . When in reality they have sacrifice on quality and service. I’ve also notice that their quality have become so flimsy that there’s honestly no difference between a (example) Coach etc...

The mentality of consumers is owning something “affordable “ and still have the luxury brand name embossed on as a social status even the quality of products is cheap, but thats where those “luxury” brands make the most money, every time a customer bought some overpriced accessories seems like they are being laughed at by those brands owners.

Tip on the Stella: You have to wear it a ton and then it doesn't make any sound except the metal, which is super loud imo. I had one I used almost every day for 2 years, and it was fantastic. The liner just starts off very stiff and you need to break it in.

For some items like the Chanel earrings, I really think they are cheaply made. I own a few pairs and the back tag with date code fell off, got it fixed and then it fell off again and I couldn’t find the tag again. I got a pair where pearls fell off, I got it fixed and I didn’t wear them again, so the pearls are still on it. The crystals on my earrings thankfully have not fell off after so long, touch wood it never does. As for the bags and shoes, I own those too. They are really meant for prettiness and fashion and artwork pieces, they need to be used with care and they aren’t made to have crazy durability... the lamb leather is extremely delicate. My Valentino shoes in heels and flats wear off at the front tip and back heel really easily, like it scratches on the first day. If you want durability, you should pick another leather finish like caviar or patent, calf leather over lamb leather, for bags and accessories. As for all my designer shoes from experience, they scratch easily no matter what leather or finish they are. If you ask the sales about the shoes, they would say it is meant for walking on the red carpet, not daily crazy wear. Maybe you have a little too much expectation on all of those pieces for durability here. I do agree on the poor hardware and uneven lining of glaze is bad though. That just means they are handmade and you have to hand pick them when you make the purchases. I do understand that these items should be near “perfect” after spending so much, but they are handmade and won’t be perfect. All we can do is do homework and think if we can accept the pros and cons of each bag before buying it. Some of them do have quality issues, but some of them are just delicate. I love my boy bags, and lamb/caviar/patent pieces. They have wear and tear too, but I am okay with the edges wearing off. It is part of life and the bag becomes personalized in its way for me.

I'm a music producer, and I was in Las Vegas a few months ago when I had to get a new phone. My phones screen completely cracked and so I went and bought a new Iphone 11 and had been looking around for a case, so one of my artists decided to buy me a luxury phone case cause I would always buy a fairly cheap one that I liked the design and so he took me to Louis Vuitton, we chose a phone case and he bought it, 800 dollars and so not long after that, I went back home, I made sure to take extremely good care of my phone and case and 3 weeks later, the back of my case completely peeled off! It was only staying on with sticky glue like the backing of a childs sticker! So I showed it to him, he got so angry and wanted me to return it and he would get me another phone case but I wound up just going down to Target and getting a case that I absolutely love now that was only 20 dollars and a better quality than this Louis Vuitton phone case.

Dear Sophie, I wish I came across your video on this sooner. 4-5 years ago, I went on a trip to Hong Kong and shopped at a Vivienne Westwood store not from my hotel (can’t remember where exactly). I had purchased many items from bags, accessories, shoes and even jewelry. I’d say I pretty much bought 10 items. 5 out of those items were deteriorating or something wrong happened to them. The first item to malfunction was a wool mix scarf that needed washing. I I followed the directions on the label and even consulted an expert before cleaning it at home, end result? The scarf shrunk and lost its plush texture and length 😭 Item number 2: I got a set with the globe which consists of earrings and a necklace. The globe around the ring/orbit has a weak layer of metal that causes the globe to get easily bent or moved (ie it will snap off). The earrings are the same, weak metal holding, this made me stop wearing the set... Items number 3: I have 3 purses, one full leather flap, one material hobo and one material small evening purse. The hobo and leather bags’ straps’ lining was coming off, but one of the straps unfastened due to poor glue job (who fastens a bag strap with glue?!). I had enough and finally email some one from customer service in March regarding this, only to be sent an email stating that all products have an expiry date. Luxury goods DONT expire, first of all. Food, cosmetics and makeup expires. And second, what kind of reply is that? My heart is broken because I LOVE Vivienne Westwood, but their products and customer service is poor in quality. I am NEVER buying from her again.
