I used to use a rode procaster but I wasn't landing any gigs because of how sharp the t's and s's were, not to mention how I had to manage my plosives. Just bought a used sm7b and im excited to give it a go

Take off the foam and use it the same way as they use studio condensers in voice over and you should be good to go (talking eye level with the capsule at about 6 inches in a treated room, not a booth!)

I feel like the s’s and t’s are really harsh with the cheaper mic

They really are, and super hard to control.

I agree with your findings, not a good sounding mic at all. I enjoy all of your videos!

SM7B is ages ahead of the GA microphone. Comparison is not even fair.

Could we shootout the Golden Age against a '94 Radio Shack dynamic with a broken windscreen? ;)

How about a PL5 that was submerged in mud bubbles?🎤

That Golden Age mic is amazing! It makes those spots sound like they are already coming through the dashboard speakers of an old Datsun. How do they do that??!

Too much sibilance in the Golden Age whereas the SM7B has always been a Golden standard! Seems like it always works with anyone/anything.

I recently had to return a different Golden Age Projects microphone. I have to say so far I haven't been very impressed by their offerings. Smooth for the win.

I know why michael jackson loved this mic, and for audiobooks the sm7b is so smooth on high voices.

MJ used Sm7, not sm7b

Well not even close to sounding SM7b
@voscripts3 жыл бұрын
No it’s not. A sm57 is closer.

Yikes! That Golden Age mic sounds horrible! I have $12 mics in my collection that sound much closer to my SM7B than that.

wow, not even similar... the D2 has sparkle but extremely lacks bass
@rocktron2003 жыл бұрын
Woof, that D2 is AWFUL. Don't fix it in the mix, just don't buy that mic
