DON'T BUY THIS PRINTER!!! Epson D1070 is probably NOT the printer you want! Designed for heavy use!

Great informative video. I've done tech work on Epsons for over 10 years and the employees that run the shops I use to service had very limited experience. To help prevent the problem of nozzles clogging, I would recommend to the managers, that on the days the lab was closed or that had low volume of work, restart the printer and run 2 or 3 nozzle checks each day, just to keep the ink moving through to prevent clogs. This did help and cut down the number of calls I got. Also since you have experience with these printers, I would also recommend cleaning the gasket around the capping unit once a week if you're not already doing that.

Thank you for this great informational video. I’m just a nervous photographer, but I have thousand‘s of photos. I have never printed out from my camera cards and iPhone. I’m looking for a good high volume printer for my home to help me print out all of these photos and then just keep printing as I need. What do you recommend? I was looking at an Epson Eco tank printer. I have a canon PIXMA, but the cartridges don’t hold much ink and it just becomes a pain because I can only print out about 10 photos before it needs ink again. It’s just irritating. I’m looking for something with a high volume capacity , that’s affordable and works!

I looked at the Eco tank for a project but heard a lot of horror stories about them. HONESTLY not sure how true they were because so many people blow things out of proportion. If you do get one run it like crazy for the first couple of weeks to see for yourself. If I was going to get a consumer level printer I would look at the Epson P900. The quality is GREAT!!!

I bougt the ET-18100 Eco tank a few weeks ago. It is a simple Printer without bells and whistles and works fine and fast up to A3+. Also nice and easy is the software "Epson Print Layout" including softproofing. I am very happy with the quality of the prints on Ilford Studio matt, satin and glossy paper. The Epson 107 ink is realy cheap. With included 70ml (each ink) you can print many Photos! There are some disadvantages too: - There is no ethernet, you have to use USB (or wifi) - There is no gray ink => for black and white prints it is not the perfect solution - It is specified only up to 300 g/qm paper How good it will work in long term run, I do not kow...

I have problem with head! Head is not moving from the starting position, looks like head is a bit lower than actual paper and hits the paper and stopped. Is there any way we can adjust Head height?

From what I have found these printers are not serviceable. My latest issue is 8" paper not loading, did a video showing what is happening here that maybe why mine does not want to load 8" paper kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqKToWSXbaaMopI

Tengo una duda. Acepta únicamente papel por la marca epson o podría ponerle papel de otra marca. Puede imprimir en papel brillo. Lustre. O Matte como le llamamos acá en latino América.

You can print on any type paper. I use non-Epson sheet paper. But I'm unable to get any rolls locally other than Epson. I know in the US there is a company that sells glossy, matte, luster, metallic and a couple other papers in rolls. The problem I have is that it costs a fortune to import it into Canada. So if you can find it and it's a common size listed on the printer you can use it.

thank you for information! i have a question: how many 5x7 pictures can you print on one set of ink? if you know close number great! if not, still, could you tell approximate(1000/1500/3000 etc) number of 5x7 pictures that it can produce on 1 set of ink? im averaging around 200 actual pictures per day im trying to figure out approximate cost per picture, and how long 1 set of ink will last(1-2-3weks etc).
@firstchoicephoto
@firstchoicephoto 7 ай бұрын
First thing is that the initial ink that you install will not be a full set as it is used for the initial fill. At this point I would have to guess on only 5x7's because I use my printer for prints all the way from 3.5x5 up to 8 x24. So I don't actually do just one size. I received this information from my supplier when I bought the machine. According to what they have it takes 1 ml per square foot of ink to cover a print. So one square foot has 144 square inches. A 5x7 is 35 square inches. Each cartridge is 250 ml. So according to their numbers we would get 1,028 - 5x7's out of ONE cartridge. So out of all 6 cartridges (a full set) would be 6168 5x7 prints. You will run out of one color before the others but that is an average. Hope that helps.

@@firstchoicephoto thank you so much for such a detailed answer. im currently using epson et8500 printers. each printer prints on average ~1000 5x7 pictures per week. and usually thats when one of the colors(usually PB and GY) go down to 20%, i add more ink to fill it till the top. so i go through a lot if paper/ink each week. i do need speed, so i use “normal” quality. each picture takes about 37sec to print. quality is ok, for what i do, but was thinking to boost up the quality a bit more, and this printer delivers it for sure. just needed approximate numbers, to figure out the cost of switching all my printers to d1070’s plus paper/ink costs. and you helped a lot. thank you for your time good Sir:)

I was told that one set can print about 10000 4*6 pics. so it is about 6500-7000 5*7 pics.

So my guess of "So out of all 6 cartridges (a full set) would be 6168 5x7 prints." would be close. That is good to know.

Sir which is best choice silver hailde printer machine between Fujifilm Frontier LP9700 and Noritsu QSS-3904G.. Please advice me

In terms of hardware both are manufactured by Noritsu. With the Fuji machine you are stuck with CP-49E box chemistry, where as on the Noritsu is standard RA-4 chemistry. Personally I would choose the Noritsu as the software is easier to use and very customisable.

How is your printer on monochrome colors? I am finding this printer has problems with banding, that no amount of head cleaning or printer calibration solves. Setting it on fine helps, but it is still not perfect.
@firstchoicephoto
@firstchoicephoto 4 ай бұрын
Is the banding in the direction of head travel or 90 degrees offset?
@JamesSmith-kr9zw
@JamesSmith-kr9zw 4 ай бұрын
@@firstchoicephoto Thank you for your reply. Yes the banding is the same direction as the head travel. It is as if the head is not being fed enough ink to give a uniform print.

I have not seen that. I did have a banding at 90 degrees to the paper travel. That was fixed by first making sure the had was cleaned, then running a Paper Head Adjustment till everything was 0, then running a Paper Feed Adjustment. Also I have found on some images that you NEED to use a higher quality setting to eliminate some banding. It appears in solid areas that are darker then 50% grey but just shy of 100% black. I make sure to run those on Print Quality - High Quality and that goes away.

@@firstchoicephoto It seems these printers need constant adjustments to keep them working properly. I have 4 of them and they all are giving problems. I shouldn't have to switch to high quality in order to get a decent print without banding for certain images. It is like these printers are pre production and we are doing the testing for Epson! Hopefully things will improve with future software updates. I miss my Noritsu wetlab.
