I don’t have one but this is helpful when choosing!

Which one are you going with? @@savannarivera

You're not saying a Lantern is a bad softbox but your video's title is "Don't Buy This." Lantern softboxes are fantastic modifiers once you need what they're actually good for.

Next time, try using a tightly focused light source coming from the opposite direction of the main softbox as the hair light (from behind) - and use the second softbox at a lower power setting than the main softbox to soften the shadows on the far side of the face.

The square softbox seems quite bright. Is there any other lighting in front of you?

Thank you!

Dude...really great comparison. I have both and waffle back and forth. Your split screen showing the background was a great idea! Think I'm leaning back toward my softbox. Thanks

So the fact that you couldn’t figure out in advance that a 360 degree light source lights up 360 degrees of your room, which *you* didn’t intend, you now advice people not to buy this? Despite all the clever use cases including Hollywood productions?

I mentioned it’s not for me. It doesn’t fit the look that I want and that was the goal of the video 😊

@@itsmarknanez Still, your title is dumb clickbait at best. The title should have been something like "I Should Not Have Bought This," not "Don't Buy This." Even if it's not for you, a Lantern softbox might/can benefit a ton of other photographers. Do better. Beginners are watching your channel and don't know that it might be for them, even if YOU don't need it. Just because something isn't for you doesn't mean it won't be for others. Something you have to think about when you have an educational channel.
