From every calltaker/dispatcher everywhere: THANK YOU. Also thank you for recognizing that our bullshit filter in the dispatch office only goes so far. A lot of times even if it's a bullshit call but we can't tell them no- and some people refuse to take no for an answer from us, but somehow when someone with police on their shirt says the exact same shit it now makes sense. We get just as infuriated as you do, sending you out on crap calls.

That noise ordinance law is tricky. I've played my music during the day and I've had cops telling me to turn it down or I'll get a ticket. But when I call about someone else's music (which I rarely do) they look at me like I'm crazy and tell me not to call again.

Saw a TLC special back a few years ago on stupid 911 calls. I can not remember exactly what it was but it was something like a lady called 911 cause mcdonalds would not give her a big mac.

Current 911 dispatcher; I had somebody call 911 because they’re domesticated bird was stuck in a tree. Yes, it could fly. The fire department went on scene and assigned themselves as “Paracete” command. Yes, this really happens.

Dispatchers and police have a hard enough time as it is dealing with 911 hang-up calls, pocket dials and false apple watch SOS triggers. These types of calls make up about 1/3 of our response cards daily.

Some cities have non-911 information numbers, such as NYC's 311 number. Learn and input into your cell phone's address book the *non-emergency* numbers of the PD, FD, etc.

Here in the Minneapolis metro, besides the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, 911 is emergency and non emergency. So 911 is used for animal calls, utility calls, vehicle lock outs, past action crashes and parking violations. This also results in 10-30 911 hang ups in our town per day, because people call the non emergency and it routes them to 911 and then they hang up.....

Yes! Everything you're saying is 100% true. However, there are many more ignorant, stupid, naive, confused etc. people around. People will always be calling 911. Who in the world knows all the numbers to call, numbers related to specific situations? This can't be solved by videos like this. One of the possible solutions is to expand and fund the 911 service who can then re-direct calls to the appropriate areas/services.

There is a SUPER SIMPLE solution to this problem. STOP Putting "DIAL 911" on police vehicles and instead put your NON-EMERGENCY number on the cars. EVERYONE over the age of 3 yrs old knows to dial 911 for real emergencies. You need to train the general public in your area by putting your non-emergency number on patrol cars and signs around town so they don't have to call 911.

What about if a guy needs help picking up a girl at a bar? That's not covered anywhere in that chapter. Maybe there's should also be a civil matters division in police departments. Hey you want to get rid of the bad cops in a department, well force them to have to listen to all the scenarios listed above. Think about it. You go to a call clearly not your problem. You can now say, "Miss i do apologize, but i am not qualified to handle your situation, but an officer will be here to handle this. I would love to stay and handle this, but I got another call." Now Officer Doofus can now be utilized. Don't say there isn't anyone bad it their jobs because there's always one. This also maybe the incentive to help one improve or two quit. There's a third. Self deletion because I don't think someone wants to be apart of the Civil Matters Unit. Wow, I can't believe this popped in my head. "In the criminal justice system, there's a unit of law enforcement dedicated to the whiners. That unit is the Civil Matters Unit. This is their story. Duh duh!"

1, First time I've seen a video where Tommy is actually angry. 2, Since the pandemic started have you ever had anyone call 911 on a local business for requiring patrons to wear masks? I'm pretty sure that happened at least once in the town where I work even though businesses were required by state law at the time to only admit customers who wore masks.

As much as the mask requirement was necessary at the height of the pandemic, my local police flat out refused to enforce it and PSP was reluctant to respond. They were busy with you know, stabbings, fights, shootings and physical domestics, among others.

I like the sentiment... And I understand.. but for issues that might require police involvement but are not emergency issues, at least in my area, they say don't call the non emergency number; just dail 911. That being said most of this shit is not worthy of police involvement.
