You got any recommendations on dry fire systems that work good that aren’t crazy expensive?

After doing this job for almost eight years, I stress to rookies that I’m still learning too. I might be your FTO, but laws are constantly changing, as are standards, and wars of doing things. If you stop learning, you become stagnant.

Please make a video on how to build a duty belt on a slim waist for people employed by conservative departments that do not allow open vest carry (aka moving items to your chest is not an option).

I love hacking on Hi-Points. They are decent for what they are, and the carbines are seriously under appreciated rifles. It’s just too easy to poke fun, but could you imagine Glock or HK having the same customer service or warranty??? 💲💲💲💲💲💲💲

This!!! If only I would’ve had this video when I first started I was so hard on myself at the start and set unreasonably high expectations ended up leaving a year in, wish I would’ve believed in myself as much as the other officers believed in me

I was set up for failure with my first department. To be fair it was a really small department, Anne they needed someone to hit the ground running. However, I only had about 5 weeks of field training before I was cut out on my own. I was in no way ready to be out by myself and the only officer on duty. I got tired of not having real direction, so I found videos like this and others to help out. I’ve been a cop right years now. Wherever I get a rookie, I tell them that I’m here to impart what I know. That even after eight years, even I don’t have every answer, but I’ll do everything to find it. I also tell them don’t be afraid to say you don’t know, but don’t hide behind it either.

Asking questions is one of the best things to learning the job, those who don't ask questions aren't taking the job seriously, that's what senior officer s, training officers and fto's are there for no matter how long your on the job, you are always learning even training officers, there is something new to learn...

I really love these types of videos. Sharing wisdom straight from the heart, interacting with people, and no script. Not some YT style production or scripted format. As someone who’s young and has interests in learning everything I can about the field, soaking up as much info and wisdom as possible from those more experienced is important to me. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, wisdom, and knowledge with us.

I love when old heads think that the younger generation of cops is responsible for all the ills and problems with modern policing. We’re actively dealing with the fallout from the good ol boys club running and absolute free-for-all on the public. The same dudes that were tuning up prisoners in the back of the squad in 2004 are now Monday morning quarterbacking my body cam footage because they don’t like that I gave a verbal beating to a criminal who was running his mouth. You old guys are directly responsible for the climate we’re in today.

I’ve had similar experience working armored trucks. I learned that mistakes will happen, and just as important as it is to learn from them, is that you can’t let it hold you down. Nobody likes the guy who spends the rest of shift moping around feeling down about his mistakes, especially if it wasn’t a serious mistake. You gotta be someone who is able to pick themselves back up and get back in the game. I made those mistakes too, and saw new guys after me make the same mistakes. As a crew lead I try my best to be encouraging. “Hey man when I was new I made those mistakes too, don’t let it get you down, just keep going at it”.

@duhfrenchie4107Күн бұрын
What changed? The minimum requirements seemed pretty fair when I tested. You didn’t have to be an athlete but you definitely couldn’t be out of shape. Pretty sure there’s a recruiting issue as well right now from what I’ve heard so it’s difficult to have high standards with low interest in the field.

Switchblades are legal to carry in my state. I have a OTF keychain one but I only use it to cut open boxes and packages when I order things online. That’s really the only thing that switchblades are good for in the modern world. They are pointless as weapons when you have better knives, pepper spray, EDW’s, concealable retractable batons and other better weapons for self defense

Just joking around a bit; I definitely never plan to fight any police officers but I did occur to me while you were talking about getting leverage with handcuffs that I might actually be a bit of a problem for an average officer being only 5'8'' but having 4+ years martial arts experience, most of it in Judo (BJJ's daddy). I have to find something to do working 3rd shift in a non-emergency occupation. Oh, and the name is pronounced the same way Ktulu in "The Call of Ktulu" by Metallica is pronounced which is where I first heard the name anyway.

I can retire my old condor belt! My basket weave pouches are from Safariland. I just bought Duty Man basketvweave pouches to go on my new safe life duty belt. They are real leather just lighter than safariland pouches!

The Tru Spec 24/7 pants are the bomb! I love them. The newest version of them has a little bit better pocket setup and better closures for the pockets, but even the older style like the ones you showed, are splendid. I’ve been wearing them for over two years for work and I’ve never had any of the velcro fail or even lose its grip. The velcro still has the same grip and hold as when they were new and I love the configuration of the mini pockets inside of the cargo pockets, and the small pockets on the outside of the cargo pockets as well. Another plus with the Tru Spec pants, is unlike 5.11 pants, they leave plenty of room in the waist and the crotch so you aren’t getting squeezed or pinched in places very undesirable.
