@raver dark heart guess I'll still say its a spoiler just in case. When the transmutation failed and Alphonse lost his body his and Ed's soul got connected when Ed bound him to the armor if I recall correctly (havent seen it in some time) that caused Ed's body to maintain Al's body at the gate aswell. Thats why Ed slept and ate more than before the human transmutation. He was literally eating and sleeping for two bodies. This also caused his own body to develop at a slower rate. I mean even as kids Al was much taller so technically in the end Ed grew to an average height and Al is just a tall guy.
