Don’t Commit These 5 Mistakes with Small Cap Funds
Small-cap funds should be a part of your satellite portfolio and not the core portfolio as these funds can fall heavily during a stock market crash. If you have a higher risk tolerance and are willing to take risks, then having exposure to two different small-cap funds could potentially generate higher returns. Small Cap Funds are extremely volatile investments. You could lose a lot of money if you invest a lump sum amount in Small Cap Funds and the stock market crashes immediately after you invest. Small Cap Funds face a problem when they get bigger in size (AUM Increase) because of a shortage of relevant investment ideas.

There are many small cap companies. The fund manager need not allocate 5% in one company. With cash, fund manager has good amount of options to explore.

Rightly said. If one has no immediate need for funds during bear phase of market, then one cannot lose value ever in any fund. Main "Bear Badnaam" (as explained by Mr.Vijay kedia), it offers great opportunities

Madam don't mind pura ulta hai mere Axis Large cap fund 1 saal se negetive return dee raha hai, recovery kaa naam hi nahi, kuch din pahale girabat kaa time mai mere hybrid fund , large cap index fund ne bhi negetive mai aa gaya, lekin believe me, mere small cap funds negetive mai gaya hii nahi, agar gaya bhi 2 din ke andar recovery ho gaya. This is my practical experience.

Dear maam, mera yeh question hai.... Mera Aim hai SIP. Abhi mera SIP start karneka paisa nahi hai. Mere pass 20k hai. Main 4 mutual fund main (5k/per) lumpsum karke start karna chahunga jinko main 15-20 saal chalana chata hu. mera permanent income 6 month ke bad suru hone wali hai, tab mera SIP start karke 20 saal tak SIP karna chati hun. Kya aisa karne par woh 4mf main investment return ke upar negative asar padega(bcoz started as lumpsum)???
