In the Netherlands we now celebrate Sinterklaas. He will arrive from Spain by steamboat in mid-November. And the children can put their shoes on in the evening, with something tasty for the horse and they sing songs. In the morning there is a small gift or something tasty in the shoe. On December 5, Sinterklaas' birthday, we gather with family and friends for a gift evening. Then the Piets bring bags of gifts for everyone. As a child I thought this was a really great party, and now it's fantastic to see that my son loves it just as much. At Christmas we really celebrate the birth of Jesus and go to church. And we eat with family. Your paintings are amazing, I hope to be a full time artist too one day.

On Christmas Day, in Brazil, my family usually has lunch together, there are certain Christmases when we don't do anything in the afternoon, but sometimes my relatives rent a farm for us to spend the day, then in the evening we go to mass and when the mass is over Let's go home to get the presents, my mother always puts the presents on the tree before we go so that the children believe it's Santa Claus :D Soon after we had dinner which would be: pernil, rice, farofa, chicken and salad, for dessert it would be: ice cream, pavê and pie. At this time of year I also get inspired to do Christmas-related drawings! Anyway, merry Christmas everyone ❤️

Growing up, we never celebrated Christmas at all because my parents would open their restaurant to work. So now that we're all a bit older, we do secret santa so that our little sister remembers a childhood with fun traditions where we take the time to celebrate together! One of the traditions I grew up with in a Canadian Italian household: my father roasted chestnuts on an open fire. Then we dunk the peeled chestnuts in 7up and wine and eat them with a t spoon. Yum! It’s actually an Italian tradition

It’s a little silly but typically our family tradition is to load up in the car and try to find the best lights on someone’s lawn or house in town. Most of the time it’s the same few houses every year 😂

Hi friend! I hope you are able to find joy in the moving process! I know it can be overwhelming but there is light at the end of the tunnel(cliché I know)! If it makes it easier, try packing one space at a time. Start with the biggest room and work your way down. I’m sorry you don’t have family to celebrate the holidays with. Be happy that you can still move. I have been physically stuck in my tiny apartment for 12 years. Since I was 17. I am chronically ill, disabled and bedridden. I have to be isolated due to a genetic disease that inhibits me from creating antibodies. So I am always alone. Alone and in intense pain. Without any hope for it to get better. Christmas and Birthdays are the same as any other day. Still I try to find joy and comfort in any moment in which the pain is barable enough that I can think. On my best days I get to read and even sketch a bit lying on my side in bed. In pain, nauseous,exhausted and shaking. And still I am extremely thankful for these short moments. Please try to see the good in as much as possible concentrate on what you do have and not what you are allegedly missing out on. ❤ Maybe you could paint your nails Christmassy colours, or wear festive clothes and earrings while you can not decorate your home, or if you have a car, maybe you could decorate that a bit? With some battery operated lights and some Christmas music?❤ The festive spirit comes from within 🥰🎅🌟🎄🎉
