If you do decide to drive on a flat tire, GO SLOW! Don't try driving at highway speeds with a flat tire. Activate hazards and use the shoulder if you need to to avoid being hit. Driving on a flat tire at more than 10-15mph may cause you to lose control and crash.

I had a flat on Labor Day (ran over a random chunk of 2x6 in the road). Spare was at home... Called AAA, and after 45 minutes of being on hold, I drove it home. 5 mph in a 1963 VW Beetle, for two miles. Even with a 3 inch gash in my sidewall, it remained in one piece. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but it can be done in an emergency. Key is drive SLOW.

Great video. I’ve switched to “Run Flat” tires on my cars. So much safer. Allows me to safely drive with absolutely ZERO air pressure so I can get to my destination. Basically eliminates the need for a spare and dangerous tire changing on the road.

Last time I drove on a flat, it shredded to pieces. It’s a miracle my rims weren’t bent.

Be aware if you have an All Wheel Drive vehicle and you destroy one tire be prepared to buy all four replacements Why ? Because it the tire diameters are not equal in tread depth it will wreak havoc on your In an all-wheel-drive system, the computer ensures that each wheel gets the right amount of torque It reduces slippage and maximizes the wheel control If any of the tires have less tread amount or smaller circumference than the others, the computer will take incorrect readings and send wrong information to other components Driving with mismatched tires for a long time can burn up the drivetrain

I don't want to jinx it but the only flat I've ever gotten was at my house. I had my jack and jack stands so changing my tire to my full size spare was a breeze. Maybe it's just my maintenance habits or just a coincidence. However checking tire pressure is still important which actually lessens the chance of an object piercing the tire.

I wish more car companies would use spare tires. I rather be safe than sorry.

Unless you are on a freeway. Never ever change a tire on the freeway. Slow down, turn on hazards, pull to the right as much as possible and exit the freeway.

Had'a flat at frwy speed, but quickly pulled over, n threw my spare on. Plugged tha flat, and reinstalled it, but, thank God, tha plug leaked, n I tookit to tha shop. No visible external damage, but inside was full'a "tire seeds"! (Burned rubber granules!) If that plug had held, it woulda ended badly... (And, if you're unfamiliar with "wheel tramp", google it! I totaled an Xterra, due to a rear tread separation, and Wheel Tramp is NO JOKE! ☠)

I realized I was driving on a flat tire today when I got at my job. I don't know how long it was flat, but the tire was still on the rim and I don't see any bubble or weird stuff on the sidewall. I hope it's gonna be ok cause these are almost brand new winter tires.

So what other damage can a flat tire do? I disappointedly watched the whole video without hearing or seeing what was in the description, for example if you're forced to drive on a flat and the tire is so torn up that it's whipping against the car, what other damage could it do? Brake lines for example, what else is located there in the front that this could mess up?

Some needs to advertise this warning here to these Rachett as people here in Alabama. I've lived all over the country, and have never seen how some many people drive on flat tires. i do automotive services, and constantly finding myself telling my customers about simple auto maintenance that they should learned from there parents.

We love love love your videos! We find them very informative and definitely entertaining! Your videos have helped us do things on our vehicles that we would have had to go to a garage for. We live in Canada and would love to be able to purchase parts from 1A Auto - unfortunately you currently don’t ship to Canada. Please find a way to change that! You sell parts that are for fixing older vehicles (of which we have 3) and parts are not always easy to find. We would be your #1 customer. Have a wonderful day!

Hey len can you and sue do a video on towing a vehicle. Sue is your wife and her new nice car is broken down and all you have is the old pickup and change it where you have the nice truck and the other vehicle is lower end, with covid tow trucks are busy or not available and these things happen and all the time, a tow truck is the better option but not always available thanks love the vids

Good 👍 news is that Discount Tires will fix your flat tire for free. I thumped in on a flat tire and the boy jacked up my car💪 took the nail out and got it back on. I asked him how much I owed him. He said they don’t charge. 👍. I gave him a couple of bucks to get a soda 🥤.

DRIVING ON A FLAT TIRE. (BEST ADVICE: DON'T DO IT! 🥺) But if there is no choice, you should... 1. Drive VERY slow. 2. Replace ASAP with your SPARE TIRE. 3. INSPECT the "DAMAGE" of the TIRE which you run FLAT. a. Inspect the RIM. (1) Make sure the RIM is not cracked or has sharpened edge (SMOOTHEN it out before replacing it). (2) If damage is really bad, REPLACE THE FULL RIM for safety. b. Re-INFLATE a RUN FLAT TIRE. (1) Check the tire very well... (1a.) Minor damage on tire must be carefully assessed. (1b.) Bubble on tire (broke the belt) VERY DANGEROUS. Do not re-use. (1c.) Serious damages inside. REPLACE TIRE completely. ⛅🧍🚘 _
