I bought a bunch of those $40-50 books in the $1-2 bins, mint. If I see ridiculous prices I never go back.

If you price your books cheap all the good ones sell quickly and customers complain that all you have is junk. If you price them high customers complain that you’re trying to rip people off. It’s a tough business to find a balance especially if you don’t find good comics on a regular basis.

I just sold my complete Maximum Carnage set for 120$. 75 % news stand editions. The buyer knew I loved this set so much he offered to hold ‘em in case I wanted them back someday. And that’s what’s up.

Mile High Comics in Denver does this. I’ve seen books that are 5-10 times guide price. Crazy!

I price my comics based on eBay sold listings. I tally up every sale from the past 90 days, get the average, and Boom - that's the price!

All prices are subjective. Everyone is going to grade and price a book what they deem it might be. Using several price guides is key in determining, last solds due help a ton. Of course when it was sold and how many should be factored in. Some ppl like to tack on a little more to help curb the “fees” wherever it’s being sold. There’s no rhyme or reason. End of the day, try to buy a book for what you would pay for it…reasonably. Sometimes I have no problem paying the full amount of what someone is asking if I never see it. I’m more than happy to be the one to find that ghost book out in the wild. And sometimes I score big time in dollar bins and/or flash sales. To each their own! Best of luck to everyone hunting out there

I noticed lately prices for comics at Flea Markets and Antique Shops are high. I think this is because they have many other things to sell and are in no rush to sell comics quickly. Also I think these owners are very much aware comic and toy collectors are buying their inventory to resell for huge profits and they are making sure they are getting piece of the action and are blindingly slapping on high prices. It’s a vicious cycle now. Tough to find good deals out in the wild now.

I’ve learned that once comic books hit antique stores, vintage stores or even flea markets, it’s too late. I don’t even bother going to those stores to look for comics. You gotta hit up garage sales, estate sales or storage sales.

Great video. I try my best to hunt in the wild. If I go to a LCS, I hit the .50 and $1 bins. If I hit Walmart, Target, or Ollie's, I get the 5 for 5 packs or the exclusives. I only do ebay on online opinions for large lots or truly hard to find books.

I have grown tired of trying to explain to an informed seller that a 15 cent cover does not make a book worth hundreds of dollars. I had my son in laws coworker selling that ASM 50 with a riped cover writing on it at a 0.5 to NG wanting $450. Telling me it was a good deal and worth more than that. A book is worth what someone is willing to spend but the buyer be ware your children will have to clean out your house some day and know you wasted their inheritance on worthless books. WhatNot is crazy on what people are paying on what they're paying. 3x what I got the some book the week before.

Aren’t you from Louisiana? The reason I’m asking is because I think I know the antique shop you went to and if it’s the one I’m thinking of they always price their books crazy high.
