Right now even though I'm stuck in the burbs, I have every possible spot I can garden in use. And even though there maybe circumstances where people can't up and go right yet, I do feel that one can start the basics right where they are. Even in an apartment. Start building skills now so you're ready on a bigger scale. I love watching your videos. You have a great talent for spreading the urgency without the fear mongering and that is an amazing talent!!!!

We are out in the country, but not as far out as we were 47 years ago when we bought this 10 acres. This 3 mile road had 7 houses on it, now there's more than 50. In the 52 years we've been married we've never lived in a town. But we've only been "homesteady" off and on. We've usually raised our own meat and had a garden. The motivation comes and goes. As we are aging it's getting harder and harder to to do the heavy lifting required. One of our sons and his wife and young son moved a large trailer in and have been lots of help, my husband was made a paraplegic 16 years ago. He still gardens a does a lot around here. We will keep on keepingon as long as we are able. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation you give us!

🙏🏿 i am 3 months old in the country, and trying to plant different things then a friend of mine said check this channel on how to plant and manage strawberries then he told me , i think he is an adventist. I quickly subscribed and now i am blessed. I am also learning how to fees and protect the soil. I am facing challenges with fruit trees like oranges and tangerins they are not doing so well compared to mangoes and avocados. I planted 3 months ago and i have added a bit of vege fertilizer and chicken and goat manure

Something I’ve been praying on is the fact we financially can’t move right now. I would like to give people hope who are in our same situation. I know this is where God wants us right now. It may never be a homestead. I have to find a way to work with what we have. I got off all social media (except a little bit of KZbin) and have been creating community in my neighborhood, church and in our homeschool groups. We have 4 families on our street that we invited over for a cookie exchange during Christmas, we are branching off of our coop with more like minded families and our church has a community garden so we are taking a row there. We also have a garden and chickens in our backyard. We are doing what we can for now. This world is getting crazier, and we all need to be doing what we can now. It’s the little things. I also am learning from those who fail so I feel like possibly we will be more equipped if we ever do get homestead. We will go where God leads us. In Jesus name, amen. ❤

The summer of 2023 in Texas was so discouraging and quite honestly trying to recover from the losses and discouragement it brought forth. Hoping the small break this winter will give me the time needed to be ready for the challenges ahead for this growing season. Praying for a better weather year, we sure need it. Good video, great timing!

A wonderful message! Thank you so much! We live in a neighborhood with only 1/3 acre but we are making the best of it! We have planted fruit trees, have veggie beds and have built outdoor cooking areas for grid down times. My husband and I are both physically challenged now and do the best we can. We would love to buy a little piece of land somewhere (preferably with established fruit/nut trees), but honestly at this stage of our lives, even just moving is overwhelming. Maybe we could buy something for a bugout location and a place to practice with our fire arms.

Thank you for your videos. We have been trying to figure out what we are going to do in our home/Homestead. We haven’t really set anything up for Homestead, except that we have planted a bunch of trees and established some gardens which need to be fixed. I keep wanting to move because we have a Mortgage. We have plenty of equity, so I keep thinking that we could take our equity and start over without a mortgage but as you said, it’s hard to reestablish everything. we have almost 100 fruit trees and over 100 berry bushes as well as asparagus and beautiful flowers we have planted. I appreciate you sharing your Christianity as we are Christians also and we recognize the signs of the times. We are running out of prophecies to fulfill.🙄… keep the faith and thanks again for sharing on your channel
@IHGChick

Be aware that though you seemingly have great equity in your place now, so does everyone else so to buy something different would really cost you. It's all a wash. Speaking of wash, I am given to understand it's to be another incredible flood.
@CountryLivingExperience
@CountryLivingExperience Жыл бұрын
You're welcome. You may want to try to take that equity now because of the extreme slowdown in the real estate market. But, 100 fruit trees is amazing.....that would keep me in place since they take so long to develop.

I’ve seen a lot of the people that move to the country can’t think about what they need, they spend more time running back and forth to town everyday or 2, also hitting that drive thru. Once a week to town is pretty much what is easier to do once you get in the grove of things with a list.

Hey there! I feel like a video like this can put you at risk for attack, though at this point, I haven’t seen anything like that, so you must have a great community here! I’m new here 👋 I have some experience living on a small hobby farmstead (big ol’ garden, around 30 chickens) on 6 acres. Now, I live in the city, and we have a good amount of space for a good sized garden of our own. As Roots and Refuge puts it, this is our waiting room acting as a classroom. Recently, my husband and I were expecting our 5th baby, but he passed away in utero at around 14 weeks along. This was so devastating for us. He was finally born very recently, and for some reason, in my grief, I’ve never wanted this dream of acreage and a small homestead so badly… and my husband expressed similar feelings. We’re trying to balance paying of debt, saving money, and making it home suitable for resell. That’s going to mean lots of side work for my husband, finding ways to minimize buying on my part, and maybe me finding a way to make money from home. My husband is also in the Air reserves, and he gets word on all kinds of news. He says he thinks it’s important to get us out to the country sooner than later and often second guesses moving us to the city for his job. Our other goal is to bring him home somehow. We’re still figuring that one out, and it’s a goal got after the other goals. God is good, and He makes all things beautiful if you let Him. He has in our lives, even if we’ve made mistakes, or bad things have happened to us…

Thank you for letting me know. We have a good community here but there are some that get a little rowdy from time to time. I have developed thick skin but I can always ban them from the channel so they can't comment anymore (if using profanity, etc.). God is good. He will provide for you.

We are to know the signs of the times. We may not know the day, we may not know the hour, but we are to study so we can see it coming so it does not take us as a thief in the night. " We are not children of darkness but of the light and of the day " in other words we're supposed to see it coming and we're supposed to recognize what's going on and not just go blindly through life with our eyes closed not looking. We are told to watch and pray. Pray it does not come in the winter and pray it does not come on the Sabbath day

I have lived in the country here in South West virginia all my life....I am beginning to look more into off grid solar and greenhouse....almost at that point to get it done....BUT.. I believe people try and copy others instead of using other people's knowledge to make their own plan. I'm a Christian also, but I'm not perfect yet. Funny this homesteading thing. Back in the 60's when I was growing up we ran the farm to survive. Weren't nothing special, it was just how it was. Fast forward to today. No more farm, live on the edge of the burbs. Worked in the big cities all over the eastern half of the US mostly but never cared anything about living in any city. Forced into early retirement by a couple of years. Lived through gall stones, lung surgery for bacterial infection, HEP-C, type II diabetes and lastly cancer. All is good that I'm aware of today. Momma's prayers answered from all those years ago I'm sure. Not sure I'm so deserving myself. But the place is paid off, car's paid for. No loans and hope to be yanking out the power companies meter in about 3 to 4 months when I finish my solar and get it tested well enough. As for Jesus coming back for a visit and the world going to pot. Yup and yup. It's about to get nasty no matter what's coming sooner or later. Folks best get ready for it now. I'm 60 years old trying to keep at least one foot out of the grave. Don't spend much time thinking about Jesus dropping in. One way or another, time is a whole lot shorter for me than it has been. Far as I'm concerned he could put his foot on the gas a little bit! Ready to go home myself! But in the mean time you do what you gotta do. God bless you brother! One way or another it's all gonna get better one day. We just gotta weather the storms ahead of us and believe.

Man, I am still subscribed to your channel because you do have good content. But I've noticed I stopped watching your videos at some point and I think its because of your clickbait thumbnails and titles. Personally I don't think its help8ng your view count. The target audience you are going for probably appreciate titles that actually have something to do with what your videos are about. IMO the era of clickbait is over, people know what it is and value transparency. What you do is your thing, I will stay subscribed, but just wanted to give you some constructive criticisms. Happy new year!

I appreciate constructive criticism. However, understanding KZbin and how the algorithm works is a long complicated process of which I have invested a lot of time in. My views and subs have only increased as I have modified titles and thumbnails. That said, the quality of what I say in the videos has not diminished. I can see how certain thumbnails perform on the back end and this one is performing exceptionally well. Was the quality of the information in the video any less than normal? Happy new year.

I was with you up until you tried to claim that the world‘s coming to an end and it’s obvious. Don’t you know that we’re naturally selfish because we see things through our own eyes. We are so self-employed that the world must be ending while we are alive. Every generation in history has had groups of people say that, and the only thing they all have in common is every single one of them have been wrong.
