I pitched my 2nd level grate after the frustration of not being able to center it. I've purchased some neat accessories from the Ceramic Grill Store since then.

The Vision Egg grill itself is amazing, but the cheap Vision cart is made of very very thin metal, the casters twist off after only a couple years of use. By the 3rd year, I had to remove the grill from the cart and purchase a replacement cart off amazon for 150 bucks. I am not the only one with this issue, it appears anyone that has owned a large diamond cut vision grill longer than about 4 years has realized this.

I've had mine over 7 years now. No issues, except grates.

Don’t understand why this guy is so rough with the upper grate… my Vision has been a workhorse for 12 years. Yes I have replace the casters 2 times only because they wore out rolling in and out on my patio..and the fire bowl once (under warranty) and have a new bowl and cover in the garage for when it’s needed. For the money, you cannot beat a Vision. Also have purchased a BJ3 but only for the extra size.

What are the advantages or disadvantages of cooking with this vs an electric smoker

Cooking with natural wood/charcoal seems to me like you get way more flavor. I have cooked with electric it is a lot easier to maintain. With anything that has burning fuel you constantly have to keep an eye on it unlike electric. I have a buddy that has an electric smoker. We might have to get it and cook the same item and do a comparison and let some people taste test. And see if you can taste a difference.
