I went to the gas station by my apartment and there was a nice red car parked sideways taking three spaces at the front of the store. There was a wealthy old couple getting out. I pulled up in the spot right next to them pretty aggressively and got out giving them a look of disbelief and probably saying things under my breath too. Got in the store and started talking to the cashier about how ridiculous some people are as the couple walked in to the store. The cashier just blushed and didn't say anything as she bagged my items. I found out later that the old couple were her parents and they owned the store lol.

What has happened to me more than once and I have also seen it happen to others is because someone parked badly earlier in the day several other cars ended up parking across lines because there were no other spaces. I had similar situation to happen me where I double parked because I had taken my great aunt to Walmart to give room for her personal scooter to come along the side of my truck where she could get on and off her scooter with ease and I also had room to help her in and out my truck. When she was done at Walmart and we returned to my truck some young punks decided to take it upon themselves to block me in to where I had no access to enter my truck. Walmart security came over and had the two vehicles towed so I could get my great aunt into my truck and then take her home. The two here in the video were actually in the wrong because how could they know what the person's situation was for double parking. Also it is against the law for denying a person access to their property, there are no laws governing parking lot etiquette, unless it is causing safety or environmental issues to the community, the person that double parked in this video was in no way a danger to the community.

However, there is no statute that allows the police themselves to take such action on private property. The cops should and will tell you and the owner of the properties and cars that this is a civil issue, not one arising out of an ordinance or law, as there would be on city property like a street. Now they would most likely also tell the owners of the blocking vehicles to move them if they are present, but this is then a matter of concern over a potential altercation, and they are allowed to intervene to prevent that as a matter of public safety. If the cops ordered those cars towed, they overstepped their authority. If the owner/manager of the property did it, he's allowed to make that call.

Another tip, for the nicer car owners, park in the corner spots of parking lots, and get as close to the line/curb (without rubbing it) , this way, it should be enough space for the car next to you , to open there doors without hitting your car, even fat people should be able to get out without door pinging you.

Parking over two spaces in a parking lot is not the definition of double parking. Double parking occurs on a street. When all the spaces at the curb are parked up and then someone parks in the lane of travel on the street. That's what the definition of double parking is.

You in Charlotte? People do it all the time, causing other drivers to wait and watch their Austin Powers parking skills. In some cases/spots...yeah, it can make sense, but not everywhere. I know for a fact that in some places (apartments) people back-in to prevent their tags from being read easily....as in getting repo'd....but it actually doesn't work lol.
