That is one bold, cheeky filly. And I laughed when Pjirkje finally stood up, Sylke played and didn't eat at first. So typical of babies. What a sweetheart. There is nothing that melts the heart like a newborn foal snuggling you like that. I experienced that once over 50 years ago, that memory is still fresh in my heart.

It was amazing how friendly this newborn foal was. It then quickly occurred to me that the foal was asking Yvonne for help to get her mother up so she could nurse. The fact that the little foal kept nibbling (being mouthy) was a tell tale sign that she needed to nurse. Very interesting how such a newborn foal was already going to a human for help.

@@LindaEll89 Actually the foal was being mouthy before Yvonne reached out - definitely was ready to nurse. If you observe how the foal was circling Pierke and trying to find the teets to nurse on her mother, what I posted would make more sense. Yvonne even mentioned that she may have to help the foal to find a drink.

To me, the teats are so small for such a big animal. A cow,’s teats are much bigger. It seems hard for the filly to grab a test. How wonderful Pirkkje (sp..?) is with her adorable filly and with Yvonne.
