Reading VO "live" for me is when I read to my boys at bedtime, and wouldn'tcha know it, I barely ever make a mistake! But then get me in the booth with the mic in front of me and boy whatsit if I get through a paragraph without stopping for the first little while (15min or so) then that's a rare night! Helpful video again Kevin. I do schedule, plan, think about title and thumbnail. I also do everything in mostly one take. My videos require quite some editing afterwards in the form of annotations and additional images. Also switching between multiple cameras. But for authenticity it is good to record in one go. Mistakes and stutters I keep in if they are not hurting the video. Also, if you would not have said you did several takes for this videos, since you had to pause because your battery was low, then I wouldn't have known. The bonus tip about the playlists is a really good one also. Thanks for your videos Kevin. There is a lot of channels out there that cover similar topics to yours, but you are the person that strikes me as authentic, caring and knowing what you are talking about. Thanks a lot!

Love it... I"m already doing as much as I can that doesn't need editing! I'm mastering Power Point so I can manage the transitions and animations in as I go and then just change one or two slides here and there, instead of having to edit in the entire video when it's recorded. Works for me... the challenge is to learn to use all the tools in editing and screen shots from me in full screen to thumbnail when showing what's on the slides. I'm so glad to hear you advising this.

Hi Kevin, I just started my YT channel a few days ago, and I'm excited with the possibilities. I've done quite a bit of public speaking in the past - so I appreciate the reminders about organizing your talk, etc. Thank you. Question: I re-listened to a video I recorded last night and noticed that it has a lot of "you knows" in it. What would be the quickest, easiest way to delete those? Also, I'd like to put up a few words - very short bullets. (I'm 66 and tech challenged - but committed to learn.) And is there a way to speed up the rate of speaking - just a bit. I felt the topic is important so I guess I spoke a bit slowly, and I'm concerned listeners might be thinking, 'Speed it up, girl!" LOL! 😊 Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with it. My channel is about senior life - a very broad topic - with an emphasis on relationships for women over 40 - because I have a book coming out next year - near Valentine's Day on the topic. Thanks in advance for any tips or direction you can provide.
@KevinKolbe6 күн бұрын
My suggestion - leave 'em in and create at a pace that works for you. You can speed up videos on KZbin too. I watch a lot at 1.25 or 1.50 speed. As far as text, if you're on a Mac look at iMovie. You can also use a program like Riverside too.

Thanks for this great pointer in pretending your video is live. I’ve been creating videos for years but I simply don’t feel natural in front of the camera. I get tongue tied. My ideas/thoughts rush ahead of my mouth. Then the editing process is a NIGHTMARE. (There’s hours there I could be spending reading or on the golf course frankly). There have been many times I think it’s not worth it. However to think of it “live” is a great idea. My best videos are ones where I actually have a time deadline and then I don’t do about 20 takes. 😂 I’ve got a couple of videos to shoot next so I’ll give these hints a go. Thank you.

After you post your video do you delete it off your phone to free up storage space?
@KevinKolbe6 күн бұрын
I use my phone to shoot not edit BUT if I did, I would keep a copy before deleting.

I really like this theory but I make cooking videos. I'm not sure if I use this method
@KevinKolbe6 күн бұрын
Why not?
@Jill4Today6 күн бұрын
@KevinKolbe because I do have to cut the video and then resume after cookies go into the oven and then come out

Depending on what you use, you can pause the recording, then start again when ready. That way you kind of edit while recording.

Kevin i did figure out how to put clickable subscribe button on lower right in my videos. Last question. Can you see subscribe button in your videos and shorts. I can’t. I don’t remember if I ever did. My wife can see my button on her phone though.

Super cool. Actually sharing how to do that in the next video (thanks to you). I see the button yes on long form.
