Don't end up on the rocks! accident at The Baths VG BVI.

Crew Pressure
This week a catamaran ended up on the rocks in the baths.
I’m in no way judging what has happened there, or what lead to this, I do not know the full story but it’s not the first time I see something similar.
I didn’t hear about any people injured or major nature damage, this is a scary situation.
I Took this advantage to talk about a subject that puts crews, boats and nature at risks and it is Crew pressure.
It’s important to raise awareness of local knowledge and local advisories.
Read about the areas you’re sailing to (even though the no moorings when there's a red flag isn’t mentioned in the official BVI cruising guide) listen to local notices and play it safe.
I’m pretty sure that the decision to leave the boat unattended is being regretted right now, not sure if insurance will even cover it.
Don’t let crew pressure affect your decision-making to this level, stay safe, keep nature safe, and follow local regulations.

When we were visiting last winter, we arrived on a red flag day. It was super easy for us to sail north less than 2nm, grab a transient slip in the harbor in Spanish Town and take a taxi down to the baths. It costs a bit more than a mooring, but it's zero stress, and it's a beautiful hike down from the ticket office.

Well said. And ultimately losing one day at the Baths is better than losing the rest of your vacation or, worse yet, your life.
