Just to answer your question about the root: It's a fake ingredient for the potion that you can use in place of the mushroom so the potion ends up not working. I remember using it when I played before I found the mushroom, I couldn't figure out why the potion wasn't working until I figured out they put a fake in for confusion.

Plot question... If you're shut inside a house, with a locked door and closed window, would you still transform considering that you're not out in the open, and you can't see that it's a full moon? Or do werewolves transform regardless? Sorry I don't know much about WW stuff, but I was just wondering.

I think it's pretty much up for interpretation whether it's a result of actual moonlight exposure or just a timing thing. I've seen both versions tossed around and earlier werewolf folklore is so varied and widespread that I don't think there's really a definitive version.

If you could read you would've noticed from the first couple of words that I was talking about the PLOT of the game, and whether or not this issue could be considered a plothole or not. It has to do with immersion, nothing to do whether they exist or not. @ Tamar H., thanks for the reply. I'll have to check movies/stories I've seen previously that contain werewolves tranformations, I really can't recall specfic details.

The cracks, maybe? It is a wooden house after all, and it may have a leaky roof, so as long as it is not a cloudy night, some moonlight may slip through the cracks somewhere and causes the transformation.

Oh wow, this game's awesome! I love werewolves too, and after Overcast - Walden and the Werewolf was so awful, it's nice to see a good werewolf game. XD Since this seems to be in ye olden times, I'm guessing he didn't have a good way to quickly isolate himself on an island or the like. It's actually interesting to think about how long it's been since he became a werewolf, and his struggles to try and find a way to solve his problem while having to stop every month to ensure he doesn't kill anyone. Definitely cool!

Bloom I think the root was a decoy. You can mess up the potion with it having no effect, I believe. Some people just throw stuff in the pot or can't figure out the riddle.
