Bought a new car in April 2024. $406 per month for 60 months at 4.75%. Replaced a 2010 Chevy that was falling apart. Last 3 USED cars we paid cash. It sucks having a note, but been paying an extra 400 per month. Should be paid off in about 2.5 years from new.

I'm 70 years and I have 10 brothers. Back then they would buy a used car and fix it up and drove it till the wheels feel off. They were all married and own thier homes with a two parent household. They would upgrade slowly but can buy the car or truck they want. These young folks needs to hear this. Good looking out.

I bought a 2023 Lexus IS 300 new last year. My payment is lower than your stated average payment for both new and used car. I saved up for 3 years and put 60% down. I also pay more than my monthly payment because I plan to pay it off early. I have driven a number of cars that I could afford over the years, I'm old and have worked hard and deserve something nice as my final vehicle. I don't take my car to the car wash, I clean it myself. Your financial advice is sound, enjoy your rewards!

They both have decent used cars, and never complain. They are very humble, young adults, but I know they get tempted by all the new cars they see their friends drive. I remind them to look at all the freedom they have with their finances with not having a car payment. Some of their friends’ ENTIRE income goes to a car payment and insurance.😩

A ton of great points here! If you really want to have the vehicle you are paying on repo'd, cancel the insurance :) Seriously though, I drive a 2014 Kia Soul which is paid off. Insurance is a whole different story!! I would love to see you do a video about finding the perfect insurance. Doesn't seem to matter if you improve your credit score, pay off your vehicle, have zero points, zero claims for 10 years!!

Thanks coach I needed this. My car got damaged in the storm. Knowing I didn’t have the money nor the credit I went on the lot and they needed a co-signer which I put my son down and they then showed me a brand new vehicle that I knew I could not afford like you said $700 a month for a payment is too much. They made sure I got in my emotions, but I’m glad I stood my ground because they wanted my son to just buy the car and I drive it. I told him no way I wouldn’t do any of it and I walked out the lot. The devil will do everything he can to separate families to separate yourself from yourself and doing something just to get materialistic things thank you Coach. I appreciate it.

I have a Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 2024. I was in the market for a new truck and had the money to buy a truck but the car note was 800$ a month I decided to lease the vehicle and I dropped 15k on a lease with the intent to buy my lease down the future. I got my monthly payments to 322$ a month. I have equity with my 15k deposit and It can always go towards buying out my lease and then my car loan will be taxed not on the original 55k but the new price depending on how much I’ve paid leading up to that point. It will also lower interest rate bc the rate can change within those 3yrs or when I decide to buy it out. I’m using that as leverage. Bc my car lease can be bought out at anytime during my 3 yr lease and now I won’t be taxed on 55k and my interest rate on my car loan will be at a different rate than the interest rate is currently if I had bought the car at this moment.

Bought a 2013 Honda Accord with only 50k miles on it at the top of 2023 and paid it off in a little over a year. Grinded on Uber after my 9-5 and on weekends and paid it off in a little over a year. It’s freeing not having to pay a car note on top of all my other obligations. I’ll be driving her for the next 10 years at minimum.
