This feels so natural. Like it's how the song is supposed to be. I love the inclusion of the "Once Apon a Time" theme from Undertale. I feel like with each successive chapter, we get to another verse with a different instrument in the background until, in the final chapter, we get the full song with everything put together in one final sendoff of our characters, saying goodbye to the Dark world, and all of Deltarune, to explore ourselves and give the story life once more through our own imagination.

i feel a little silly for never fully processing the themes of growing up in detarune until listening to this. as well as kris being controlled literally by someone else more metaphorically fitting with that theme. the way i interpret this song is the official don’t forget is sung by asriel to kris (technically ralsei as i believe ralsei is a manifestation of that part of asriel in krises mind) and this song is almost like a sequel to that being kris singing to themselves using the words asriel once told them.

I feel like Ralsey sings it to Kris, maybe Susie too, but mainly because Kris knows he is being controlled by the player and Ralsey is aware of that and wants Kris to know he is not alone. I know it sounds stupid but i always thought this song was Asriel talking to Chara as in UT Chara is protrayed as the "Player" and Asriel and Chara both had lockets and the song says "Don't forget" and "Promise in our hearts" Like he is talking about the locket. and to not forget about it. Plus this makes sense as Asriel and Kris are brothers (In deltarune) and Kris looks like Chara and Kris turned around is just Frisk without the F, Frisk being the character and meeting Asriel at the end of the game if you do Mercy run. I know i sound dumb rn but just think about it for a moment. This next part is just extra evidence: Frisk without the F is risk and Kris looks almost identical to the unused chara sprite (Just search it up youl know when you see it) Even if toby said it's a different world Asriel and Chara somehow fit in perfectly with the representation of characters. I have a character who I imagine wrote this song my song. She exists in an Undertale idea I had when I was prompted to write ‘lore’ not ‘worldbuilding’ by a friend and thought, “wonder what the humans were doing?” Anyway, enough author background! Dahlia(or Dolly, as her friends call her) was friends with the yellow soul before their trip to the Underground, they’d research the myths about the monsters that supposedly walked the earth alongside humans together, or look for the stories of the missing children throughout the centuries, or simply play Wild West make believe. Then the yellow soul left, Dolly hiding her hurt behind a smile as they said goodbye, she didn’t want to be alone again, but she knew she couldn’t stop them either. Years went by and Dolly moved on the best she could-though pieces of her late friend could be found in everything she said and did, a fact Dolly only became aware of 2 years after the yellow soul left-she went through high school, then to college to study history and myth, and met her first real friend in a while, Kael. Long story short, they helped each other though their problems, and Kael convinces Dolly to do SOMETHING to help her cope, and I imagine she writes this this song, as a nod to the past and hope for the future. Sorry for the ramble, I just really wanted to get that off my chest.
