The bottom side of the cage is magnetic? Can you attach the cage on a metal surface by itself with the camera in? Smallrig can do it.

How much do you recommend having a cage? (Like, a must have vs nice to have?) Do you find the neck mount heavy with cage? I'm holding off on the cage for now as I can't find it on Amazon Japan but I am interested in purchasing one... Anyways, I really appreciated you explaining the differences between the quick release mounts. It can be confusing figuring out the best way to attach different gear. Thanks for the vid.

Hey @MishaMishaMatic, thanks for the comment! I definitely recommend the cage if you are using your camera in places that it can be easily damaged or you're using in it in a sports environment. I do a lot of filming outside and the cage has saved the Action 4 more than once. I personally don't find the neck mount too heavy with the cage on it. I've gone all day with wearing it and didn't have any fatigue at the end of the day. I will say that I tend to wear collared shirts or flannels so that might be a part of it as well. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi, I cannot seem to find a similar plastic cage. The metal ones are a sort of liability issue for me if the action cam loses suction on the exterior of my car windshield and falls down the windshield. . .

I know that Amazon has some silicone and plastic covers that are relatively cheap ($15-20). I can't speak to how much they will protect the Action 4 but that might be a good spot to check!

I own and love my Osmo Action 1. Does it make sense to buy the Osmo Action 4 now when the price drops down? Will I get much better performance?

I would say that the upgrade from the Action 1 to the Action 4 would be worth it! There's a ton of new features on the 4 that weren't on the 1. But I'd also say that it depends on what you use the Action 1 for and how much you use it. If you're using your camera a lot, I'd definitely say upgrade! If you just use it casually, it might be best to stick with the Action 1 or wait until a deal pops up for the Action 4.

Hi, another question: the "Osmo Action 3.5mm Audio Adapter" is only needed if your external mic has no USB-C cable, correct? Otherwise, I can plug an external mic with USB-C directly into the Action 4, right?

Correct! It will take a microphone directly from the USB-C connection as long as the microphone you have supports USB-C. I've used my Rode Mic NTG with the Action 4 with no problem.

@@ryanvargo Ok! I have a RØDE VideoMic GO II which has USB-C as well as 3.5mm. I am coming from Go Pro 8s which were problematic!

Can you use the neck mount underwater?

I don't think that the neck mount would work too great underwater and I probably wouldn't recommend it from a practicality and safety standpoint. It would most likely stay around your neck but it would float and not always point in the direction you're wanting it to.

No problem! I actually dropped my Action 4 today while at the park with family for Easter activities and had 0 issues when I picked it back up. And yes, it definitely looks a ton better.

I don't like that tripod. But the Ulanzi MT-11 is the best.
