My daughter teaches at a school and showed them one of your videos for kids and they were silent for Several minutes. They had a farm day at school the other day and one of the students asked her if she knew farmer Jason. Thank you for what you do.

I was at the Linden stockyard to assist with paperwork. A guy came by in a stock trailer and dropped off about 20 goats. It was in screaming hot July. Within 20 minutes of the goats being dropped off, 95% of the goats were on the ground either overheated or in labor-or both. It was a nightmare. The vet came by to check the cattle, and helped us get the goats in a more comfortable area. We hosed down the goats that overheated, and moved the laboring goats to a better location. However, the person that dropped off the goats disappeared-nowhere and never to be found. The goats did not sell. We were able to find homes for the goats, but not all of the goats made it through the experience. When Jason gives advice about their animals, I take it as the gospel.

Yea…..I don’t see myself having goats. My husband wants goats, but I’m the one who does everything for the animals (chickens and rabbits) and I don’t think I could handle all that. Plus the expense! Hubs thinks you just let a goat eat the weeds and don’t have to buy feed. Regular vet visits, medications, feed, etc….we can’t afford it. He is disabled and I am retired. My 30 yr old brain thinks I can do all the things, but my 60 year old body has other ideas.

Your husband sounds like my brother-in-law who told my husband that he was going to put a couple of cows out in his pasture so they would keep the grass down and cows didn’t require any attention. My husband was raised on a farm and had a good laugh.

It’s so wonderful that you have such a beautiful farm family. Thank you for teaching us about so many things…not just goats, but birds and gardening and even frogs. You are so positive, so upbeat, so fun but consequently, people who’ve never had the privilege of living outside of the city don’t realize farm life is not a walk in the park. You work so relentlessly, but you make it seem joyful and easy, and I for one love your channels! I grew up on a working cattle ranch. I understand the ups and downs, the obligations and responsibilities, the joys and sorrows. We never raised goats, and I had no idea they were so challenging, I only had the knowledge they were escape artists and many were ornery, and I didn’t want them. I still don’t, 😂😂 but you’ve shown with proper planning, care and love, they’re wonderful hobby farm pets. Thank you for educating, explaining and sharing your farm life. You are a beautiful family. ❤❤❤

I've added a cup of white vinegar to the wash for pet beds, etc. Some people add baking soda with it. But just the white vinegar got pup pee out of the bed he decided to hike his leg on. I've also heard from a friend a cup of vodka takes smells out as well. But I think I'd be like you on the buck rut smells. There is nothing like a strong urine smell. Plus, it's been out fermenting in the sun. Whew weee! That's got to be rugged. Lol 🤣
@victoriabaker4400Ай бұрын
Plus, unlike with dogs or cats, male goat pee, when the hormones are raging, is itself just smells way stronger, then they pee on themselves for weeks on end. Friends of ours had a buck goat and I reached out to touch him-- yikes just sticky, gooey feel and like Jason says, impossible to wash off.

Only other thing I would say is to research your area that you will be keeping your goats to find out about the soils and the water and the land they will be grazing for unwanted poisonous plants or trees.

thank you so much for this very informative information. about 5 years ago, i was handed 5 newborn baby goats that had been born under horrible circumstances. i knew nothing about goats. we knew enough to no the babies had to have mamas first milk, so we did manage to get it down all of them. to make a long story short, i bottle raised those babies, and yes, they did all survive. one had a birth defect in one of his hind legs, so he became known as tripod. i loved those babies and they loved me. i started learning quick on how to care for them, but of course, i still have so much more to learn. im not young, but my husband and i try hard to make sure they are taken care of and the love continues. we have lost a few thru the years, and it is heart breaking for sure. we live in a rural area, and even after all this time, we have yet to find a vet that will make house calls. yall are very fortunate. i wish there was more doctor d's around. once again, i want to thank you and brooke so much for all you do. love watching all of you and your animals. your fan vonda, from texas
