The not sleeping for 90 days part hit me hard. I had a incident where my laptop and something with my signature on it got stolen. Nothing even ended up getting hacked into and my situation was significantly less severe than his, but even in my situation I couldn't sleep well for several days. And the anger of having your stuff stolen but not even knowing who did it or where to go was a different form of anger than I've ever felt.

I have now spent almost 2 full days trying to set up Afani. It has been a nightmare for too many reasons to write. Its complex as hell. I'm no expert in tech, but I'm no idiot either. With all due respect, to Natallie, who I adore, I feel like an idiot even trying to navigate their site. I would try this on a burner phone first for sure. Sorry about this, But I've thought this out carefully before making this comment. Maaybe its just me, but I don't think so.
@DanBreit-g1t8 ай бұрын
I reset the password, then entered what I thought was my authenticator code, and no luck. Then I went back in with the same password and it said "invalid username or password". I have massive experience with internet technologies and passwords and encryption. One might think I would not have such issues with something so simple. I'm pretty sure what I think is the authenticator code is in not what Efani thinks it is. When I use my authenticator code generator, it gives me a 6-digit numerical code, not a "token". I have no clue what they are talking about with a "token". what do they mean by "token"?, a QR code, a numeric code?, a password of some sort? I don't think I'm using the authenticator that Efani wants me to use, nor do I have any way of finding out what one they want. In the area where Efani wants me to enter the "token" it gives ZERO explanation or description or location or prompt of where one would obtain such a token. IT provides a simple dead end for the user. THE ABOVE IS JUST ONE OF THE 100 EMAILS ABCK AND FORTH OVER A 4 DAY PERIOD. I CAN'T EVEN LOG INTO MY ACCOUNT. THEIR WHOLE SITE SUCKS.

I'm almost 100% sure the guest was dead wrong about 2FA apps. You were right Natalie. That data is stored on your device only. No attacker can remotely gain your 2FA codes. They would have to get physical access to your paper QR code backups. I think you knew that and let him save face, but I think the audience needs to know that. I appreciate his service but I think people should avoid having to use it. Just simply don't use your phone number as 2FA. It's a completely invalid security method. Banks and many institutions are in a security dark age. I have a hunch the guest talks his own books as all humans are incentivized to do so, and therefore adjusts his wording to color 2FA apps in a dim light for his company's benefit.
@mellkiades8 ай бұрын
It's the first thing I figured without even hearing the part on 2FA: why would this service be needed if you 2FA everything you use online with an app like Authenticator? (Others are better but this is just a popular example). Also, my bank is one of the biggest in Canada and those idiots won't offer 2FA with an authenticator app. Another reason to all move to crypto.

I’m currently paying $223/month for 4 phones (att) and I am struggling to keep up with that payment. I agree $396 would be way out of reach for us. If only there was a technology that provided zero knowledge proofs so we wouldn’t have to rely on AT&T to protect our info 🤔

@kryptoknights5917, just checked their site for pricing and found that if you order 4 or more lines, they give you the price of $89 per month or $899 per year. It's a bit more than what regular providers offer, but they have contracts and they experience data breaches every now and then, affecting millions of their customer records. On the other hand, if I have to pay a bit more but I have no contracts or cancellation fees, with a 60-day money-back guarantee, and my service is super secure and backed by a $5 million insurance, to me, it's worth it.

Two solutions that are free. 1. Contact your carrier and tell them to notate that changes to your account must be made in person with I.D. from now on. 2. Get your crypto off of exchanges and on to a hardware wallet or paper wallet.

So one thing that I am concerned about with this service is this: What contingency plans are in place in case of a emergency if something were to happen to the "few" people who have total access to your account? Will there be someone able to continue in case of such a situation? Similar to if only two people had the keys a bitcoin wallet and both are on the same plane that crashes. Then What?
@vv2478 ай бұрын
There's multiple fails here , 1st fail is an account/customer data, 2nd fail is the carrier is not using secure enough practices. Get crypto transferred to a HW wallet is the best security.

Thank you Natalie. In my opinion it is not worth getting a credit to exchange your iPhone from 14 to 15 version. It is better to pay full price and keep both phones or wipe memory reset and give away old phone to family or friend. Phone companies have all these commercial gimmicks of getting credits but at the end what you get and was led to believe you would get is not same. Considering the risk of Sim swap or where old phone goes not worth the savings and headaches
@dannybitcoin1164 ай бұрын
There’s got to be something that the phone carrier themselves can do to have a layer of security if someone is trying to impersonate you…… like a password or some thing…… or I have the option to lock your account from switching numbers and devices, unless you are in person and verified in person

Good advice Natalie. Imagine owning a private entity with a monopoly on creating money out of thin air, charging interest (more money from thin air) as your business model, and having politicians and their military to enforce it. This kind of privilege, in the hands of a few, could have significant consequences for the world.

It just goes to show what a ridiculous idea it is that the average person will be knowledgeable enough to safely keep their Bitcoin, whether it be on their computer or a hard wallet or whatever. It's estimated that already over 4 million bitcoins have been completely lost. Bitcoin is based on a 15 year old technology invented by some "guy" whose real identity is unknown. Bitcoin has no inherent or for that matter practical value and it's only these Bitcoin nerds who are hoping to strike it rich that keep it going.
