This is awesome! I'm putting in a 1000' airstrip this spring and will be starting a Zenith kit build next fall. Once the strip is done and packed in, you all are invited to come and break it in. I'm in Indiana, just south of the MI border

Just Subscribed - great channel! I fly a 1978 Citabria out of St. Clair County (KPHN) and would like to meet up sometime. I'm currently trying to figure out an ADS-B solution, so I just fly around the mid/upper thumb area and enjoy the minimal airspace regulations. I'm getting back into flying after some time away and remembering how great it is. Your channel has definitely been entertaining and inspiring... Keep up the great work - good stuff!

The only area you can't fly in Michigan is around the Detroit area within the mode C viel.

Stevie STOL is the name
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
That's way to cool. 🤣

Super STOL could be Blue II.

I suggest “Yoda” for the SuperStol. Yoda as short for “Baby Yoda” and babies are delivered by Storks or Storch in German as in Fieseler Storch (famous WWII Luftwaffe STOL Liaison aircraft) with stork like landing gear ... ... like the SuperStol. Ok, a little too obscure. I enjoy your videos - thanks.
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
How about The Stork or Der Storch? Less obscure. Lets just get to the point. A stork is a bird with long legs 😂 So there is this guy in Galion, OH. When he told Steve Q that a Stinson was the most beautiful aircraft ever produced he had this look of disbelief on his face. Anyway, that would be deprecating enough for the GMBCo. "Yoda" sounds way to cool :-)

I'd really like to see a GMBC feature on North Fox Island that covers flying in/out as well as showing some of the facilities, trails, beaches, etc. And although South Fox Island is private and presumably not an option, it would be cool to see video of the approach to rwy36 with a low pass. Question for Scooter - which engine do you have in your Stinson?
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
I know Stryker would like to do a North Fox video also! Still trying to get up there this year.

So where in Michigan would you call home? (fly most/based)

Super Stol= Stork. Hey Scooter...How tall are you? I'm curious about the headroom in a Stinson. Thanks.
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
I'm 5'6" and use a couple cushions. People up to 6' seem to do well in the 108. Taller than that and people put seat extenders in place to give me legroom. Several 337's in place for that modification.

Since he is Stevie Q, maybe his plane should be Suzie Q.

Okay someone who wants to remain anonymous likes the idea of "KFC" for "KitFox Clone" as a name for the Super STOL.

Scooter, what prop are you running (dia./pitch)? What happened to your spinner?
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
76/52 it's the standard metal prop for the Stinson.

What is the shortest runway you have been able to get the Stinson into? I am currently flying a 108-3. Thanks
@GreatMichiganBushCo4 жыл бұрын
That's a tough question. The shortest runway I have operated on is about 900' there were no obstacles on either side. When I went down south I was balking at 1500 runways. I have a ground roll between 190 and 300 feet depending on the density. I can normally spot land within about 20' of my "spot" The takeoff is a ground roll of about 350' again depending on weight and density altitude. I have used 1800' with tall trees, I've used 1000' with no obstacles. I can see 1500' to trees being easy at the weight. I also notice that there are a lot of Stinsons flying into trees on KZbin So I have been fairly cautious to not join that group.
