Good Information shared👍 I am part of UN Family and I believe it's not rocket science to be in the UN, only you need to be consistent and have patience. It's process is little bit lengthy but once you are in whole UN agencies will open !

I just applied for a G5 job in New York, but I am not a US citizen, and I don't live in America. Would I be eligible, or are my chances very slim? Where I live has a UN office but no vacancies so I applied abroad. Am I wasting my time?

G5 means they recruit only locally. Before applying check the grade, it should start start with P (international professionals )

Gs are only meant for locals means the citizens of that location where the job is located ,they are international jobs if you get it written Fs ,Ps positions ,and Ds posts . Therefore,if you apply as indian for a job in New York in Gs positions then you will not be considered because you are not an American.And when such job appears in India only you can apply in the same Gs jobs .Best regards.
