I was reading the guidelines about an internship and there is mention that "The internship is UNPAID All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions" So will I receive a stipend or not was it same in your case too?

You receive no stipend unfortunately, the internship is all just about getting yourself a relevant experience

Heya, this is such a great question! I think it depends on the field you'll be working in. However, keeping up with current affairs and maintaining your UN official languages (Mandarin, Russian, Arabic, English, French, Spanish) will put you in good standing. I don't think you should delay your application because you don't feel like you know enough. Like every other industry, you learn a lot on the job! Love all the way back from Hong Kong :)

Hey yes you can apply for any internship even if you don't fall within the stated disciplines. I have an engineering background though I wasn't fortunate to get an internship, but my classmates did...supply chain internship at WFP. Right now their contracts were extended. If you don't mind working for any department just apply for any internship.

Hey Aarushi, honestly it differs. For one of them, I heard back after about a month and for the other, I heard back a week after submitting my application. It's not common for the UN to send out rejection emails unfortunately. This is why I always advise people not to put their life on hold after submitting an application.

Those aptitude tests are usually not even related to the specific industry..... it's just more of reasoning. And they are quite tricky so please prepare well. Just try to look up examples of aptitude tests online.

They have not really communicated on the interview's specifics,only the day and time in NY time. I sent out a reply to the email stating my availability for the interview but have not received any feedback yet. Should I just wait or should I do a follow up email. @@ClarenceKaranja Quite the dilemma! I'd send a follow up email before the interview and I'd advise you to be ready and available (i.e. - be online and refreshing your emails every so often) for the interview. It could be the case that they're extra busy.

Hi Karabo, 1) Most of the job descriptions (terms of reference) will indicate what stage of education you should ideally be at. Of course, it varies from post to post. 2) With a degree in Development Studies, you could apply to most, if not all, UN agencies. I'd encourage you to apply to all the internship programmes to maximize your chances - WFP, UNICEF, UNDP, WHO etc.
