thanks Evan, the big message I got from this video is that to succeed one must always be learning--in Tom Cruise's words one must learn from failure and study the greats. He mentioned constantly downloading new perspectives and learning from other actors, directors, and producers. He says he does not create conflict, he listens. Overall, he says he always does his best. At one point he says Do it, do it, do it. Creativity is in you, just let it out. Be spontaneous. I think that's how you find your confidence--by always learning, doing your best, doing what you want to be good at no matter the obstacles and being spontaneous--without overthinking or falling in a state of what I call analysis paralysis.

You do know that Tom's father abused his mother and kicked Tom when he was a child who couldn't fight back being small for his age and his dad being 6'2". Thank goodness his mom left him (Tom's dad) when Tom was 12. They may have ended up dirt poor it was still a better life for her and the children.

I am watching this and really listening to your voice Mr. Cruise. You have a voice that is impeccable and it just draws me in. Currently I feel empty inside, I know I have the confidence to say what I need to say when I need to say it. I treated failure as a horrendous defeat in my life and I think I have proven that I have done my best to rise above and I am not talking about making movies. I am talking about life experience. I still feel everything like it just happened to me yesterday and then I create something with my words to move past it. I have personally found it difficult to live my life fully on a daily basis. I feel broken so for me to trigger an emotion happens naturally. I don't need to pretend. Where my mind wanders there are no boundaries or limits. I am very empathic. Which rule resonates most?

Was into acting since childhood. Counting those years, it was 26 years of acting. Through it, I was told the same criticism from different people, "You play in one key". No matter what I did, technique, or how I changed...still got the same critique. To play in one key, is to not have range imo. Confidence didn't matter, love for it didn't matter, persistence did not matter, and time working at it did not matter. I still stunk at it. So I stopped.
