There Puerto Ricans from Florida are moving to DR because Puerto Rico is still a colony, more than 10,000 live in DR. My cousin is one of them, I love DR as well👍😎👍

Puerto rican here, born and raised in nyc, was in PR last week we went food shopping, price of a mango was 5$ that's insane, I'm building my house in puerto plata, my family gives me the side eye cuz I'm not building in PR if prices were lower and quality of life better I'll consider it, check the violence in PR these guys have military weapons who say life is cheap smh

I moved here in the Dominican Republic, after 60 years of living in America, I finally came back home. I live in veragua that's near cabarette and I am in peace OK. The light goes out every 5 minutes, but come back in 5 minutes. You know, the man says he's gonna come and fix the washing machine Tuesday, he comes Saturday, you know, stuff like that is slow and loud and music and Sancocho and all that stuff. All my stuff play people playing Domino's late at night and the motorcycles. My god with the motorcycles but at the end of the day I don't regret it. I'm glad I'm here. I like the noise I like the Domino's. I like the music all over the blocks. I thought the first night that I came here. I'm not gonna be able to sleep this ridiculous. It was a Tuesday. Don't people work? I had the best night's sleep ever. I am here I'm home.

My mother is from Villa Jaragua and I was born here. Every summer my mother sent me to stay with the family and all I can remember is how much peace I had and how happy I felt. As a Dominican American and I am so tired of having to live to work instead of working to live. There are so many reasons beside that but as a mother having my children in a warmer culture near family and away from all the chaos and none sense here in the states. Religion is another driving factor. I'm ready to get back to basics. I am not waiting to be over 60 and retire to make the change. I want peace and quality of life now.

😃😃😃😃 I am watching the video and i am laughing; because me and my wife was having a similar conversation. I am saying to her. People think I am crazy when I mention moving to the Dominican Republic. She said many Dominican people say when they leave they never coming back to the Dominican Republic; but at some point they always come back, or thinking about coming back. Even some of her family who lived in Europe have been coming back to the DR. All the points both of you make are true. So true we can not allow ourselves to be guilted by others into suppressing our happiness. Movement of people have been happening since the dawn of creation. When I finish paying for my home, If I fail to continue paying taxes on it the government will take it from me. When I retire, I can cash out my 401k retirement savings that I've invested in for over 20 years......but guess what?......They tax that too.....should I go on? Your life is never paid up here.

The problem in the US is that everything you do can be interpreted as a crime. You may get arrested or fined for fishing without a license; that’s wild. When you start punishing citizens for things that are not obvious “crimes,” there’s an over policing and restriction of freedom.

“Bills are due on the 1st” great quotable. DR is a beautiful country and the sense of peace that I feel when I am there is priceless. I would encourage anyone who is planning to make the move permanently to DR or any foreign country, please have a solid financial plan in place because life happens and plans can change quickly; there is no rush. People should understand the DR banking system, learn about existing immigration rules and the categories that they may or may not qualify for. At the end of the day even if we obtain residency and then citizenship, we will always be guest in DR and should conduct ourselves accordingly so we are not asked to leave. I look forward to the day when my family and I will live in DR permanently. America has changed a lot in recent years, but I will always be grateful for the opportunities it has and continues to afford me.

Fear is at the fore-front of their thinking ...As I prepare for my move there i am on a need to know basis...And only a handful of family members are on that list of need to know....And that info will be shared when the house is sold and I'm a month from lift off to my new life....

That is not the reality for the Dominicans cause they keep leaving our country. Life is good for some of us, when we have been outside and we come back with savings and a job career, that facilitates things in order to come Back
@NorberisR2 ай бұрын
Nothing is a reality for all people, there will always be a segment of people where it's not their reality no matter what the situation is. This should be understood in general, so this comment is unwarranted. At the end of the day there are many Dominicans that are doing well for themselves that never left the island and there are many who have left and came back and doing well for themselves. Always focusing on the group that's not doing well does nothing for our people or country. Have a great day.
