I think you just saved me so much time looking for my issues. I'm about to pull my 2013 FA20 out and this has scared me the past couple of days. Fingers crossed, I'll try to report back here in a comment. Thanks for this video.

Hope you find your issue. Another issue these have is a ticking noise from the vacuum pump on automatic transmission models. The vacuum pump is mounted to the passenger cylender head.
@Stumpyisgood Жыл бұрын
@@shoptimewithdrew I have an auto and exactly the same noise.... Bet its not an easy fix....
@shoptimewithdrew Жыл бұрын
If it is the vacuum pump, it is not too hard, but if it is a cracked flex plate, that is harder.

I am so with you on that. Why not just use some of the Lexus technology and make it better.

I would trust a BMW or Audi over this piece of shit Subaru designed engine.
@rekt4guud1342 ай бұрын
@@Anon-eg7wt God no, BMW is so much none sense and complexity for the sake of complexity, their cars are unserviceable, just look videos of mechanics working on the Supra. German really isn't right for the intended target audience, it's for lower middle class enthusiasts. Honda inline 4's would be a better choice for an NA in the 200hp range, but without the boxer engine the center of gravity would be fucked and the ft86 would be something entirely different as a result. At the end of the day it's really a Subaru with a Toyota badge and not a Toyota with a Subaru engine, more realistically without that engine, the whole car never happens and the idea of a rwd coupe is never even considered. Edit : Afaik, the only things toyota brought to the table is the 86 IP and d4-s injection system, everything else is Subaru.

Yeah like back in the day when no one tried to modify their own car and then blame the manufacturer
@I-didnt-ask-youАй бұрын
@@rekt4guud134transmission and design are also Toyota. So is the differential. Lexus LFA and Ae86 lead engineers worked on this. You don't give toyota NEARLY enough credit. It was also Toyota's decision to use the FA20 base since it was already in the talk for a separate collaboration car since Toyota had just previously purchased a large percentage of Subaru by buying up part of its parent company Fuji Heavy Industries. Non of their in house engines would fit in the car and keep the handling goals they were aiming for, leaving them with only a wankel or flat engine as an option. As Toyota hasn't used boxers in like 60 years, they contracted Subaru's help with their new FA design.

Wow bro that’s a neat job man I had engine knock as well, ended up buying a new rebuild and got ripped off Installed a cheap crashed motor for about 3k sounded smooth but a day later engine ceased Car been at the mechanic for almost 2 years now man 😞 wish i can do all this work and get mine back up and running

Hello, I see the starter was bad but must it be removed on a manual? The auto procedure does say to remove. Is it necessary?
@shoptimewithdrew9 ай бұрын
The bolts go through starter and bell housing and thread into the block. So bolts will need to be removed. You could possibly leave the wiring attached and move it out of the way, but I would just give yourself more room and remove it.

Can this possibly apply to a 2017 Accord v6 as well? I kind of have a similar issue, more like a deeper kind of steady clatter noise that comes from where the transmission and engine meet. Noise goes away when vehicle is put into gear and only is heard in park or neutral. No codes, drivability or power issues, fluids are good and have been changed in transmission’m, but I’ve used a mechanics stethoscope to narrow it down to that area. Does not get any louder if you rev up the engine or even hear it at all when driving. Nothing is hear from the timing belt area and I only have 41k miles on the car. I have the video on my account if you would like to check it out.

I have had similar problems. We replaced engine on car then a month later we discovered that the flex plate completely cracked on us. A local mechanic replaced the flex plate but not even two months later it has done it again. Slight crack on the flex plate again from what I can see. It is scheduled to go back to another shop next week. Anything else I should tell mechanic besides what you have explained on your video? Thanks for the info
