I always fill to 14 psi. SUP is already hard as a rock, so I don't see the point in going more. I'm 220 lbs, never had a problem. I cannot even feel a difference between 13-15 psi, so I'm always on the safe side.

Absolutely! This is usually more of a common problem with cheeper inflatables but a good practice to do regardless of which board you have.

This just happened to me in Florida last week. Bought my inflatable SUP for the trip, and two days in it exploded while sitting on the shore. I wish I saw this video one week ago! ugh😩

How do u to that with a electric pumps?!
@Orange-lemon_gaming
@Orange-lemon_gaming 11 ай бұрын
Because I always board in the summer I just have my electric pump set to 12psi ( max is 15 ) so that I can be sure that I will be fine every time I go out

Most nicer paddle boards will have a one way valve that automatically vent express pressure beyond 18psi so you never have to worry about this! I recommend something like the Paddle North Portager
@mikeb1039
@mikeb1039 10 күн бұрын
No, most nicer paddle boards DO NOT "automatically" (how would it do that?) vent excess pressure.

I've always wondered about this. My Red board can go up to 20psi, but I usually only inflate to 15 as I am only 58 kg and don't notice any issue in the water. So in the shade, what would be the maximum temp be to leave it in, or how can you know how many psi will increase in differnt temps?
@ethanhuffsup
@ethanhuffsup 7 ай бұрын
Red boards are great quality boards and leaving it at 15psi in the shade shouldn't be any problem. If it's sitting in direct sunlight for a long period of time you might drop it down to 10psi, then re-inflate it again before you paddle. Every board is different as well so some may increase in psi faster than others. With that being said it's best to check your board again if its been out for awhile in the sun and see if its been increasing in PSI. If so, you'll start to learn how fast your board increases in PSI. I hope that helps. 🤙

The seam of my Red Paddle Co board exploded in Brazil. The glue can't hold up to the heat even if it is stored indoors in a warm place. The fins and carrier points also fell off. Not worth fixing I figure because the seam can only blow up in another place. So this exploding can happen to even the most expensive sups even if the board is under inflated as mine was.

Reds boards are heat treated and not glued. If you bought between 2020-2022 and registered your board, it shld still be covered under their 5yr warranty. My board 2020 12.6 Voyager exploded in Tahoe 2 weeks ago and Red sent me out their new 2023 kit with bag and titan 2 pump

@@ethanhuffsup I think Chris from BP should have some branded ones made. It is really hard to find them in race board lengths. I think it would be a great marketing tool for being noticed at the races and those who are on his products
