Thank you for this video. I felt so bad that I struggle, but now I understand why it is so difficult for me and I think some of these tips including that rope ladder will help tremendously

I'm so glad it was helpful, Laurie! You can also use a rope or strap to get on from the tail of your board. Test a few techniques to see what works for you and your equipment. Have an awesome time on the water!

Interested in trying to paddle board again. First time I tried was in the Bahamas and I was struggling to stand and kept falling off immediately. I’m a big guy and it was exhausting but still fun even though I was failing. I couldn’t get back on it myself so I kept swimming back to shore. At one point a guy in a boat asked if I needed help 😅

You absolutely should try it again! The board you used in the Bahamas might have been too small for you if you kept falling off, especially if you are a bigger person plus the resort board was likely not the best. I love that you kept trying and hopefully were having fun! Finding a rental board that's 32" wide and closer to or over 11 will help give you more stability and volume. Finding a company that gives lessons or tours would also be helpful!

Thank you so much for making this video! I especially like the stirrup idea. It was also very helpful to have a female instructing the video -- and in the water -- as opposed to the men's videos where they have larger muscles, and smaller butts, guts, and "coconuts" that prevent us women from getting on the board easier. I fell off my board for the first time today and I panicked because I couldn't get back on. Luckily I was maybe 15 ft from shore and there were no people on the beach that saw me fall off. I banged up my knee a bit but now I know I REALLY need to practice these moves. Thanks again! This video was great and I'm sure I will reference it again!

Thanks for watching and commenting. ❤️ I'm so glad to hear it was helpful! lol "coconuts"! You can also use a strap or rope and tie a line between your front and your back handle. This will help give you leverage when pulling and getting back on from the back of the board. 100% an important thing to practice as everyone is different and your equipment will also come into plan. Once you get confidence getting back on falling can be lots of fun. Check out this fun and cheesy video I made with my brother: kzbin.info/www/bejne/maPddnuVd8ujobssi=MTeGOEQk7APb1naO Good luck, have fun with it and let me know if you have any questions!

@@PaddleAdventurer oh that was your brother?! I watched the video earlier, I thought it was really cute and looked like a lot of fun. I ordered a wetsuit so I'm going to be more willing to get into the water soon. I live near the Salish Sea (like a 10 min walk with my board & equipment) Thanks so much for the encouragement & confidence booster

@@aurorabrooks3000 Yeah! This video was his idea 😆We like to goof around and have fun - more to come from that day! Congratulations on getting a wetsuit 🙌🏼 You have some amazing paddle spots in western Canada. Have the best time and don't worry about what others think. Honestly, the best times on my board besides seeing wildlife are testing the balance of my board and being silly! You got it 💪🏼Let me know how it goes!

I never thought of doing a rope thingy as I struggle to get back on the board if I don't have something solid under my feet. I started last summer in the UK. I will be paddle boarding Saturday so will definitely try the rope🙂 thanks for sharing xx
@PaddleAdventurer
@PaddleAdventurer 2 ай бұрын
Yes! It's a super important skill and great to practice. You can also tie the rope/strap to your handle and back of your board and use it to grab and get leverage when climbing on from the rear. And you don't necessarily have to have it on your board either, you can keep it in your PFD and pull it out and use it when you're struggling. If you aren't using the rope, remember to kick your legs out straight behind you. Let me know how it goes on Saturday!

Absolutely! You can also use the rope to get on from the tail of the board. Either as a stirrup or to use as leverage by pulling.

I have another way. Hold your breath with face down in the water and the entire body parallel to the paddleboard. Put your legs over the paddleboard and climb back onto it.

This is an interesting take. I don't think it would be very effective as it sounds difficult but I'll have to try it this summer to see.
