Don't Look Away is a film based on just one of the many tactics human traffickers will target, engage, and lure young unsuspecting boys/girls into the snare of modern day slavery.
Note: This film does not depict an actual event. It is, however, a depiction of grooming tactics currently used today.
For more information or if you have a tip, please contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888, visit humantraffickinghotline.org, and/or your local human trafficking task force.

OMG. I was set up and drugged and assaulted by rich kids my freshman year. I never told anyone the full truth. You don’t expect this out of people with money. Or suspect this is how they make money. Very respectable until they aren’t. I was brought into the setup by who I thought was a girlfriend. You would recognize the companies their families owned. One was from a family that descended from the East India Trading company and bought manhattan from the Indians, so not too divorced from the black slave trade. I am of Nordic origin. They wanted a girl of my type. That’s how they got me. They asked her if she knew anyone of my type. I got away after the weekend but suffered for decades after.

It's heartbreaking how easily this can happen to young girls. We need parents to step up & teach their kids about these dangers and be willing to protect them when they start making bad choices, si it doesn't come to this point. Our society needs to come together against the darkness!!

(WOMENS LIVES MATTER ) I Hate that Women have to endure this violence and unwanted behavior from some wicked men. Women should be able to go anywhere else without being worried or concerned about men trying to hurt them, or force them into terrible circumstances. These stories very disturbing, This was absolutely terrible and Very difficult to watch, disturbing to view this man trying to force this woman to be his wife or girlfriend. Men DONT hurt any Woman, Never beat up your Woman, Never beat up your wife, girlfriend, or any woman, that’s NOT is what being a man is. Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man tough... Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man strong... Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man cool... Beating up a Woman doesn't make a man a man.... Beating a woman is Not masculine Beating Women is NOT sexy Beating Women is NOT manly Using abuse, and force for sexual gratification, intimidation, by harmful behavior for sexual intimacy with someone doesn’t make a man, strong, tough, cool, or, manly. I believe in the Safety and Well-being Women, Children, and Men WOMEN Have the RIGHT to FEEL SAFE and BE SAFE This is a reply post regarding a article on Assault Against Woman: For what is statistically true, or accurate, and even what is not included statistically, and all other crime such as this is what is ( violence against women) Always unacceptable... Women have the Right to Feel SAFE and be Safe... No woman..., or person....child...should ever have to experience this kind heinous personal intrusion in their lifetime, this seems to be occurring at least according to news reports more, and all to often. Actually this activity should be in a stage, or state of Reversal, and NOT Increasing, I am continually upset as well as greatly disturbed in hearing such stories, as I have always have been... My Heart Always... goes out to any person which have experienced any such similar experience of intrusion, attacks, and, or invasion of their personal well-being... due violence, and or violent behavior, I will continue Praying for the Safety and Well-Being of Others... There are some things that are “scary” in horror films. A ghost goes boo or a clown is right behind the main character but at the end of the movie it’s all fake. This is a new kind of scary. It’s real. No one can hid behind “don’t be scared none of its real” because this is a very real issue and not one people know about a lot. So thank you for scaring me. This was really well done great good!

when i was alone and used to work at the age of thirteen addicted to it the drugs money sex at seventeen i ended up with a pimp who was a client at first i fell in love with him and despite him beating me giving me infections twenty hospital admissions being starved i still loved him i would be isolated for days and just told to work then stay at his place in his room for hours until we had to work again i would listen to this song drink a bottle of wine pop some Xanax and just feel like someone understood it took him beating my friend to be placed into jail and me seeing over three hundred clients plus going in and out of shelters getting kicked out of group homes and foster homes it took me a long time to realize that once he got arrested i still worked for a bit but i had found someone i loved who helped him get arrested plus we had a relationship now were married and expecting a kid but this song now just makes me cry im almost a year sober of alcohol still use Xanax as prescribed for withdrawal seizures but im eighteen and ive lived a hell of a life i also dont have any family supporting me but my husband his family our now like my family as well as my social workers i live on my own i just wanted to say I'm going to treatment soon and I'm getting help because I've relapsed but I'll tell you being in the game this is very much illegal but I was sold in Canada not the states but it's still cruel plus I had my baby and I'll tell you now life after long term explotation even not as long term but I feel for these girls but when there ready to leave or when it's shut down and your forced to leave like my pimp beating the other girl who he was working to was hard for me because when the person you fall for like there pimp and I'd love to help them this is sad and I feel for these girls please people stay strong and we need to end slavery

Ignoring Male victims For the last decade there has been a focus predominantly on female sex trafficking within the law and popular discourse. In 2002, the Home Office claimed that victims were mainly prostitutes and [so]…early legislation cast trafficking as being only to do with prostitution”.110 The Palermo Protocol To Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children”111 is also clearly gendered and empathizes women as more likely victims; meanwhile the parallel Protocol against Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, assumes that the subjects are male. Dr Jo Doezema writes, “Trafficked women are assumed to be duped victims; while smuggled men are assumed to be knowing agents in their own movement.”112 Indeed, when the UN was setting up early legislation around trafficking, the Argentinian proposal “would have made it definitionally impossible for men to be trafficked”.113 The previous Government gave the vast majority of its funding and chief responsibility for the care of adult victims of human trafficking to the Poppy Project. While the Poppy Project is lauded for the support it provides victims, it nonetheless only assists women.114 It is only recently, under the present government, that the emphasis appears to have moved away from female-specific services, giving the contract, instead, to an organization working with both men and women the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army’s latest figures115 show that of 625 initial client assessment forms, 397 (64%) were female and 228 (36%) were male.116 Fraser Nelson wrote in the Telegraph that “Even though 84 per cent of trafficking prosecutions are for sex offences, the Salvation Army found two male victims for every three women, suggesting that male slavery is being dangerously overlooked.”117 Recent evidence to the Home Affairs Committee, in July 2013 also revealed that the Salvation Army had seen more cases of labour trafficking than sex trafficking since 2011.118 The Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime is currently going through a restructure. However, up to this point, trafficking in the Greater London Authority is dealt with by the Violence against Women and Girls Team. Whether their future management structure will counter in men and women who are not sex workers still remains to be seen. However, as this report will examine, a large number of male victims exist. Indeed, the figures for male victims may even at some point overtake the number of women being trafficked. Therefore the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime cannot continue to ignore the plight of male victims of human trafficking. Focusing on foreign victims Until the 2009 Coroners and Justice Act,119 there was no specific law to criminalized the labour trafficking of British citizens. There is an argument that by definition by being a migrant you are inevitably more vulnerable by being less familiar with your surroundings. However, a more cynical line taken by a number of leading academics is to see antitrafficking measures as part of a “centuries old tradition of forcibly controlling the mobility of the poor and marginalized” 120 which is detrimental to the interests of migrants by denying them agency. Dr Agustina feels people need to question the idea of trafficking itself. The way it all began was about mobility: the completely ordinary phenomenon everywhere in which people hear about a job in a place they don’t live themselves and travel to get to it. Selling sex is one of the paid occupations available But now even the word migration has almost disappeared. I say that because I believe policymakers have done and do this deliberately.”121 However in spite of a previous focus on migrant victims of trafficking, Government data is increasingly recognizing British victims. Between January and August 2013, there were ten cases of potential victims of trafficking identified from the UK in London. This made the UK the seventh largest source country of trafficking in London during this period.122

You don’t know me and I don’t know you but…… I’m a person that STOPS these kinds of things! I’ve seen horrible things that no one should ever see! I’ll continue to save girls (no matter what age) and give ‘em their life back! And I’ve brought many to “justice” and with “justice” I mean unimaginable pain and suffering! People who do this, WILL meet the same fate, as they did to the girls! I basically work in the dark! But I SAVE LIVES!! We may never see each other IRL! But I really hope that you’re gonna live an amazing life! Stay safe out there! And remember: ALWAYS make sure of your surroundings! STAY SAFE Best greetings from: I guy that works in the dark and save people’s lives! And animals too!

But she was kinda stupid ngl. Your new boyfriend takes you to a rich guy's house very far from your own home, the rich guy takes you to a secret-ish room, he pours you wine, he insists on you drinking it, and he acts suspicious.
@BecauseBeca

You make good points and this is something that came up a couple times back when I did Q&As about this. So we have this character who has lost her mom and doesn’t really have a relationship with her dad. Therefore she seeks love and affections from her boyfriend. And at this point they’ve been dating awhile. At least a year. She has total and complete trust in her boyfriend and has put all her worth into how he responds to her. So she goes to meet his fancy “boss”. In real life, i tend to be over polite to even strangers when im uncomfortable. I feel the need to not be confrontational. And with this girl she wouldnt want to be rude because that could negatively affect her whole life that is her boyfriend. So she sits even though she’s uncomfortable and wants to leave. She didnt know she’d end up drugged. And human traffickers use so much mind manipulation that she would have invalidated any gut feelings. I think this was one of the most important points i took away after we finished filming. That it’s ok to be a jerk for your own safety and to not put your whole worth in another person :)
