My Mother bought me a down filled puffer jacket in the 80’s and I still have it! (25.00) That’s been over 40 years! I still wear it because it looks perfect. Now that’s quality!

I received a Mulberry bag from work colleagues when I passed my degree almost 37 years ago. I have used it non stop since that time. The quality is outstanding and the piece is timeless. Love it, love it, love it. Quality pays. Best time to buy timeless quality pieces is just after Christmas. I always invest in classic pieces that don't date but look elegant. You can then incorporate different pieces according to fashion and taste. I am petite so make sure the pieces are tailored to fit me and that it the key - fit, quality and classic.

@@dniki2152 as I am a personal trainer, I recommend getting one...best money I ever spent, and as many of my clients have been with me for 4+ years, they would agree with that. You need to learn how to be safe and effective. Good luck and keep me/us posted!

Good tips on how to look expensive and classy.

I think there's a big difference between classy and expensive...look at Meghan Markle, she wears very 'expensive' clothes, but rarely looks 'classy', whereas Princess Catherine can buy cheaper items from the High Street, and will always look Classy! It's what I tried to instill in my daughters.😊

I don’t have a very defined waist, so I don’t want to emphadize that, but I do wear belts a lot. I mostly wear the same color belt as my dress or trousers, that gives polish, or adds shape to something looser, without bringing too much attention to my thicker waist. I think belts are very underrated, they’re great for an “expensive” look, if good-quality.

It's actually kind of amusing when you think of these designer items and so many dupes for them. Who knows what is real or not? Relying on classic belts (such as your examples) gives a classic look with no guessing about the authenticity of the accessory...it just looks good. JMHO.

Quality is so important, but logos are just tacky. I’m with you, high-quality high-street is the way to go. Maybe a better theme would be “how to avoid looking cheaply-dressed”? I have my own rules on this one, mostly no polyester, but it mostly a comfort issue. I don’t understand how my fellow American women can wear those sticky poly tops all the time, even in tropical Florida. I would be one giant walking heat rash on my way to Emergency for a cool-down. I live in warm, but dry, California. Or, acrylic sweaters, OMG, don’t get me started!

Great tips. I love your videos. There is an old superstition that says not to put your purse on the floor or you won't have money. I don't know if that's true but just something that I heard. And it gave me a chuckle when you were commenting about the purse on the floor.

Our world is in the process of change, having to have 'designer brands' is so 80's when they started to push consumerism, and when you consider most are made in 3rd world countries with low wages and poor working conditions, who would want to wear something made by people suffering. Is far classier to wear something, well made, of natural materials where the middle men are not making a fortune off it and the people producing the item. The only exception to this would be the courtier houses and only then, items that are made to order, not 'off the peg'. When you are buying a Gucci bag or belt from a high street shop, you are buying sorrow, imagine the negative energy attached to that item. When you buy from a craftsman, imagine the love of his/her craft. the care and attention to detail......and the energy transfer into that item. A fair price for materials, craftsmanship and hours, sees both producer and buyer in a win situation.

I don’t want to look expensive, I do want to look classy and elegant. This trope somehow infected the fashion world, but it’s strange, isn’t it? Classy is easy, it’s about modesty, proper fit and appropriateness. Elegant isn’t difficult, either, it’s basically simplicity and a limited color palette. I would be embarrassed if someone told me that I look expensive.

Excellent video. And now don't you have a beautiful camel coat? Such great reminders here. Getting shoes right is critical and takes some hard work. But hard shopping pays off, sometimes for decades. Must have those belts as a reward for when I reach my goal this year. And so agree about the bags that can stand up. Happy New Year from Washington state.

My rule was always: short, bodycon-tight, OR low-cut, not AND. It’s far sexier, and classier, to be subtle, not obvious. No one wants to be mistaken for a street-walker. I’m 61 and love my sexy secret, thigh-high boots with my modest knee-length skirts and tights, but never with mini skirts or bare legs, and it’s not just a matter of age, sometimes it would be too sexy for any age.

How about using the words tasteful, elegant, chic, fashionable, instead of the C word, which is actually un-C.... A good manicure is a requirement too. People will look at your watch and jewelry and unkempt raggedy nails and cuticles detract

Know the event you are attending - some very "classy" events require a 30 year old was jacket and wellies to "fit in"!
