We had an IKEA commercial in Canada and there is a woman shopper carrying bags of good deals and she is running to her husband in the car yelling “start the car!! Start the car!,” I thought of that when he said $30 for everything. A deal too good to be true.

One of my best memories: we’re at a parade in a small Nebraska town near where we live and my dad, mom and I are standing watching watching the usual entries (me wishing every one threw candy) , and all of a sudden Dad’s running out into the parade and jumps up behind another old guy like him who’s driving a restored Farm-all that’s pulling a flatbed trailer filled with old gas engines- all running, of course!! Dad rode with him to the end of the parade and they talked the whole time. We grew to expect stuff like that to happen!

@@gaycorrell9732 , Dad always wanted to drive a tractor in our little town parade, so about 15 years ago, he asked me if I would drive my tractor and he would drive one of his and pull another behind him on a trailer. I reluctantly agreed. We were home getting our tractors polished up and Dad decided he needed more drivers, so he walked over to the neighbor's down the road and asked him if he would like to drive one. He said sure. Our neighbor was visiting with some insurance man there, I believe, and the guy thought that was really cool, so my dad, of course, asked him if HE wanted to drive one in the parade. He jumped at the chance. Then we had another friend on one, too. So we went from never being in the parade to having 6 or 7 tractors in a row chugging through town. I remember some high school boys standing in front of a church trying to get me to GUN it...lol. Dad is in his 80s and has sold the farm, but If I told him I wanted us to drive tractors in the parade next month, I bet he would find us some! 😊🌼

@@sand3882 what wonderful memories with your Dad. I am the oldest of 4 girls, no boys, and I wanted to learn how to work on cars with my Daddy. He was a mechanic and a farmer and rancher. I learned some basic info on preventive maintenance and could do it myself in later years. Men always wanted to help me, but I told them I've got this. I also drove the tractor when we bailed hay and had to stay upwind of the hay dust as I have asthma. He is gone now and your story made me smile. thank you!

Ah...my Johnson's Paste Wax Can...still using the old wax for my floors...still good...can has a copyright, 1947. Great finds. Min. 3:12 the green "vase" actually is Chinese and they sell ginger in sirup in those. My father and I loved it as desert, only with 2-3 tablespoons of double cream poured over it. We both (87 + 56) still love and buy it in exact these pots, available in different sizes. They have a wide cork top all have a real red seal. He now lives in Portugal, where I grew up. The green glazed pot you said would be good for flowers is a true ginger jar. In china town (at least in my hometown) you could buy candied ginger root that was sealed in syrup (like a seal a meal bag) then stuffed into the green clay pot. They topped it with a cork. I don’t know if they still sell them this way but they did in the 70’s.

I live in Georgia (suburb of Atlanta) and home of Coke. I have dug an old mill site for an entire summer. We dug alot of old (1800s) Coke bottles. Also some rare water bottles and ink wells. It was amazing. Had poison ivy the whole summer! If u know ur local history and can find where the city dump was or an old farmhouse u usually find bottles in the ground. There was no trash service so people would dump trash and bury it somewhere away from the house. That's what we found and it was amazing. Plus we found lead type from the printing business from the mill. It was fun and something I remember very well. I have great bottles with some cokes that date to late 1800s plus some big master ink bottles and ink wells. Included were medical bottles, pharmacy labeled bottles and many others. My best friend found it and we went digging from that point on. We dug every weekend and dug amazing history. We have researched them even today. Anyway, nice finds today for u and great deals. Take care.

The problem, at least in this area, is that many of the old dumps are now on either private property or town/state owned property... One could ask permission to dig, but the town/state is not likely to allow it. I've come across a few people that were able to dig on private property sites, hopefully I get that chance at some point!

I had a big day yesterday at my every other week on line auction. Had a lot of gun stuff, something I buy. Prices for a change was mostly low for what I bought. Did have a big box of Antique Reloading tools that I had to pay $450 for...Yikes! They were in the bin with the clothes. Pic is of a woman in her Military uniform. Similar to staged like a photo would be for a High School yearbook. I'm guessing 60's (Maybe late 50's ) based on hairstyle. And since they charge by the pound with clothes..not sure it even cost me a penny. Great photo though

I seen one Halloween paper decoration when you were shuffling through them, maybe it wasn't vintage.

You wear such cool shirts, would love to be able to read them. Maybe add a thumbnail at the end (please)?
