I use garment bag for my bras, wash almost everything in cold water, and hang drying as much as I can. I have bras and cheap tops from 10+ year ago. Oh, i don't use fabric softener. It actively damages your clothes.

I cannot believe I forgot to mention not to use fabric softener 🙃

@@MiahGrace Any other suggestions for keeping fabrics soft?

To keep fabrics soft add baking soda to your wash. It will definitely make them soft. @KaraikoRaine

I've been putting a bunch of things together in my delicate bags...oops! I guess I need to invest in more. Thanks for the tips!

Drying bras, undies, and the precious Ts on a folding rack really does prolong their life. Also, free humidifying of a room! Also, Tshirts with printing on the front will stay nice a lot longer if you turn them inside out for washing and drying. Costumers of the Faire folk use vodka (the cheapest possible vodka with no flavor to it is best) *and sunshine and open air* for that dry cleaning. The UV helps with sanitizing the garment and there really isn't a residual vodka smell if it's dried thoroughly where all those scent molecules (body and booze) can escape. This method loses some efficacy, as you said, in theatre houses where the sun and outdoor aspects are lost.

Is also a waste of vodka. Even the cheap stuff is more expensive than 70% isopropyl alcohol. And vodka requires going to a liquor store versus picking up rubbing alcohol at nearly any store.

@@MichiaMakes Shrug. Sometimes, there's a liquor shop closer the Fairgrounds than a drugstore by many miles. Sometimes, someone at the campground already has a bottle of vodka and can easily spare a half cup.

Unlike Kardashian, you couldn't pay me to appreciate pilling as a fashion statement. I don't care who endorses it, it's cheap cheap cheap!

In Australia we have methylated spirits - essentially 99% ethanol with a bittering agent. Very useful for spraying garments (you should probably dilute it 3 parts methylated spirits to 1 part water) as it evaporates to quickly to sanitise, at least for hard surfaces

I didn't know that was something that wasn't everywhere. The things you learn!☺️

Is there anything you can do to force the fibers to tuck inward for good. Like soaking dark colors in vinegar sets the color & keeps it from bleeding in the wash. It also keeps your item looking newer longer.
