I heard on several occasions that Bob Dylan was unique to work with. (an example) was when he was with the Traveling Wilbury's. Tom Petty and George Harrison were talking about his way of writing the songs. on anything, a napkin or whatever piece of paper he could find. because ideas would come into his head at any time. anyway they were saying how he would write the words on to the paper. and George Harrison said that the letters were really tiny like a spider wrote the word's. that was one of the AWESOME things about the travelling Wilbury's. all the members had a hand in writing the songs.

Supposedly, his hand-writing has changed constantly over the years as well. There are hand-written lyrics of his from different periods and they don't even look like they're written by the same person.

Does anyone think: "Oh wow, there's Bob Dylan, objectively one of the most influential figures in all of rock music history no matter what you think personally about his work. Think I'll go make fun of him to his face"? It's like that old saying about venomous spiders and snakes. 'They won't hurt you if you don't annoy them.' Nobody annoys dangerous spiders and snakes.

Johnny Cash gave Bob Dylan his guitar around 1965 or 66.He knocked on Dylan's door ,handed Dylan the guitar & walked away.Bob was like Johnny just handed me his guitar & left.Dylan said why ?His road mgr.said you don't know what that means?Dylan said no.His road mgr.told Bob all about what it means when someone gifts you their instrument.Between 1970& 74,the early 1970's.Bob was playing with Neil Young and a cast of other musicians.when Bob walked over to Neil and handed him his guitar.Neil just stood there with a very puzzled look on his face.I think at first Neil thought Bob wanted him to carry his guitar for him.I'm sure he figured it out,after he got back to his dressing room. It was great..Bob always said he really liked Neil young's music...

Bob dylan is and has been criticized far too harshly in my opinion. The man changed the way songs are written to this day. One of the biggest influences in my life
@davidpahlka6301 Жыл бұрын
If he was such an important influence, why are you anonymous? Anonymous was the name of his character in "Pat Garret and Billy the Kid'. Glad you like Dylan, only 1 in 5 do, which shows you have some intelligence giving credibility to your inflated ego. Dylan is a true genius, I am an almost genius but not musically. I can write song lyrics as quick as he though, but modern music has few lyricists. Sad. Ruined music. About making fun of Bob Dylan, Don McLean referred to Bob as the Joker, which made him mad but if Bob reflected upon it, McLean didn't mean a silly Joker like modern day comedians but a relevant Joker like the "Fool" in King Lear who was smarter than all those in political power. Now I talked way over your head, I'll go to the store before it starts raining. I crave ice cream when it rains, and a "Hard Rain" has been falling for some time, speaking poetically, bur soon the Left's tyranny will be over. "My Back Pages" was far greater than "Hard Rain" but society hasn't seen it yet. It may take you 20 years to digest this. When I'm right, I see things 20 years in advance of everyone else. Have a nice day, honestly. Few realize Dylan's best work wasn't his protest songs but his love ones.

He treated alot of people like garbage. You have to seperate the art from the artist. George harrison and him had a falling out when bob said he was raising money for charity and never donated the funds. Theres hundreds of other stories just like that about him. Dude was one of the greatest poets of our time but he was off a bit, especially when he was on booze

Criteria Studios in Miami has an incredible history that started in 1958. The list of artists who have recorded there is a who's who. I would love to see you do a dive into that as a subject, both from people like Mark as engineer/ producer, as well as artists. The artistry of engineering music is becoming a lost art. I love that Mark has all the tools from the artistic days.

That's a funny story. I guess when you're Dylan, you can be a primadona about pretty much what you want. He may be a legend but that sounds like he takes himself way too seriously. 😂 I made this comment before I heard Daniel Lanois tell his version. I love Dylan and meant it very tongue in cheek. In the Lanois interview, he doesn't mention this story but he does get into how serious and to the point Dylan was in the studio during that making of Time Out of Mind. He also mentioned that tone of Dylan's mood at the time, too.
@simonsimon325 Жыл бұрын
Normally I would agree about artists taking themselves too seriously, but by the sound of this story Bob walked in on what would have looked like his workmates taking the piss out of him as soon as he wasn't around. Totally understand why he wasn't happy.

Dylan is definitely my favorite... Then Tom Petty. I had to laugh when he mentioned that he renovated a porno studio. One of my favorite coffee houses was the Trauma in Philadelphia which was also a renovated porn shop with the studio on the top. I Saw The Velvet underground there in 68-69 with only 25 people. Hippies seemed to take over those places.
