"a picture is worth a thousand words but I'd rather have the words" that's a good one lol

Special shout-out to those that manage to send their screenshots of text in a word document!

I too feel like this should be a totally unnescessary video, but here we are. I'm glad that I have another source I can refer people to on this topic. Also, I'd like to add, that there's a special place for people posting photos of a computer screen.

Even better people recording video using their phone to share what's going on but either it's macro blocking or several hundreds megabytes large when they can take the time to describe it with text or gasp several photos/screenshots lol.

The thumbnail game is going strong Anthony!

I'm facing this issue a lot at my current workplace be it fellow devs or users. Like there is an error popup and despite the message is selectable for copy paste.. *share screenshot instead* I can still tolerate for the end users (despite the message asking them to copy the error text and share it to us) but it drives me up the wall when fellow devs asking for my help also... *share screenshot of traceback error*

The only exception is when something in your OS install goes wrong and you don't even make it to a terminal.

Screenshots are great when you don't want it to be easily copied. For example when fellow students asked for solutions to our programming assignments. They would have to at least go to the effort to type it out, if they wanted to copy it.

I shall allow that.

I see what your saying but what my eyes are hearing is that if I screenshot enough text I'll be featured in a wideo

Hi Anthony, I have a question about testing. How do you test functions which uses the module Pathlib with mocking, especially for both linux and windows platforms?
@anthonywritescode2 жыл бұрын
I personally try and avoid pathlib -- also I wouldn't mock it I would just set up real folder structures in a temporary directory and validate against those -- pre-commit has a bunch of examples

Man I have to correct so many people every day about this. I don't get why this is people's default.

Noted: next time, take a photo of my laptop screen with my phone camera, thumb over the lens and all ;)

I totally agree that when the code is part of a conversation it should remain as text, but when creating presentations and such, a nice generated image goes a long way. That may be kinda obvious to state but that's kinda the spirit of this video anyway 😄

Wow. So that’s why stackoverflow doesn’t like images of code either. Learned that the hard way 😅
