That activity going on at the hive is robbing. You just put that swarm in the middle of a battle field. They are going to abscond again. You should 1) Move the hive to a different location. So the robbers wont know where they are 2) Reduce the entrance to about 1" wide. So they can defend the hive. 3) Only give them one box with two frames in it. So they can defend the frames (wax moth/hive beetle) 4) Don't feed them. They already have drawn comb. At most spray the sugar water on the comb. Good luck.

I know nothing about bees. This bee terminology is so aggressive and like a fantasy book, I love it! 😆

Thank you for the inspiration and not just painting the toxicpositivity only shown on their farms on things like instas.. where people virtually filter and virtually paint a picture-perfected farm of easyness.. real ones always appreciated more 🤙

The thing to remember too is you're working on a scale you're not used to, and yeah even in a climate as well. Very different. Love the videos. Signing up to the newsletter now, mate.

I signed up for your newsletter! I found out about your farm from Epic Gardening and I've learned SO much already from you. You're amazing and what I'm aspiring to do in the next 5 years! I'm at the saving/buying a proper vehicle phase right now. :) It's awesome to see my plan is really similar to what you expressed in the 2 year video on Epic Gardening, though.

You should watch Dr. Leo’s KZbin to help with your bee questions. He also has workshops you can attend. He also uses horizontal boxes which is very helpful on your lower back.

Best way to learn is to just do it! Keeping new projects smaller keeps the fear of failing low I have found.

As always top self information. Thank you greatly appreciated love seeing your farm. I’m probably a month or two away from my hens laying. And with the two roosters this time excited for endless chicks.

Thanks for sharing. The T-shirt is awesome. :-) It's great that you have honey bees! My grandfather was a bee farmer. He was also a carpenter and built his own bee houses, frames, etc.

Aw yea! KZbin University! So much we can learn on youtube these days. Its so cool. I got my web development job from watching youtube videos and am now learning to farm all through youtube and online content creators like you. Jump in, fail fast to learn fast. Thanks for the encouragement! I have been failing/learning A LOT lately so great timing lol.

For your beehive . . . Do you have hives because you hope to collect honey to sell at market or is to assist with cross pollination for your garden? If it's cross pollination have you created homes for the bees that don't live in hives that are also useful for cross pollination of crops (flowers and vegetables)? There are some studies out there that say those bees that live by themselves may be more helpful than bees from hives. Bees from hives go from the flower to the hive. Bees who live by themselves will visit multiple plants which aids cross pollination better.

You put out fantastic content. Thinking….would it hurt the mycelium (fruiting cycle)if you cut logs in half now. Would they still be easy to stack🍄🌈😃🤙

Stick with single deeps and if your hive is small as what your showing move everyone into a 6 frame nuc. If the hive is to small they cannot defend the hive from pest and will die. The bugs your were looking at were beetles. Good idea to spread Diatomaceous Earth at the base of the hive.
@mikkoainasoja50182 жыл бұрын
As you thought yourself. You may wan't to reduce that bee hive space especially now when there was that pest problems. Otherwise the bees don't have the population to guard and control that extra space to deal that problem. Also if the bees leave in the hive and gather in that branch again, then text time you move them in that hive try to put some spruce branches or something in front to that hive entrance, so that the bees would be distracted and would make new orientation flight so that they orientate in that new location.
@NaturesAlwaysRight2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the advice Mikko! That's a really interesting strategy on reprogramming their flight path, I'll have to try.

Maybe thin poles with the platform on top, and wrap the poles with blue sticky traps so bugs get stuck trying to climb vertically (only flying insects possible)
