I took Mirtazapine for 2 years felt great! Then I asked my doctor how I should Quit the medication!! This was in January 2019. The doctor told me just to quit cold turkey..... I can not in words describe the pain and horror I have been through for the last 5 years... I was immediately hospitalized at a mental hospital due to zero sleep and Psycosis, with debilitating Brain zaps and extreme headaces. Im barley functioning right now 5 yeras later and still have lots of healing to do before I can get back to a normal life. It is no exaggeration that this medication has ruined my life... Please just stay away from this horrible drug..

I've spoken to so many people who have lived with this drug and their lives destroyed. TD, anaesthesia, hair falling out. Ruined lives all round. No one listens to them. It's a chemical lobotomy in a bottle. I only wish I could go back and undo the damage its caused me. Random brain damage and dementia. Psych drugs kill. It's their intention to make money off of your pain. I pray don't let them.

I have really benefited from mirtazapine to treat insomnia and panic attacks, but I also gained 60lbs across 14 months. I've always been naturally skinny my entire life, and suddenly I have swollen like a balloon. While the mental benefits of mirtazapine really helped me pull through, I've also made adjustments in my life and done the psychotherapy to stop using it, so I am going to taper off. I have good hopes that most of my weight gain is fluid buildup.

Then my appetite really increase and I was gaing weight. I was 38. I called my Dr. and stopped it. I year ago, prescribed 10mg for sleep and it work well. No weight problems but increased libido. I was 62,and that was fine. After 2 months, signs of Tardia dyskinesia ,all increased mouth movements. I called my Dr ,and she didn't believe me, as mirtazapine is an anti-depressant, not an anti-psychotic ,which I wasn't on.

@TheSubpremeState
@TheSubpremeState 25 күн бұрын
@@BerkantCetin07 I had a painful autoimmune disorder called wegeners. It's known to be particularly nasty , to quote one expert on it. Very rare and before the 70s fatal most of the time and 5 months average life expectancy. I think it's not my problem anymore because I was very ambitious when I was younger but struggled to find much success. Coming so near to death and mostly having to endure such pain I gave up my silly goals and my stress went with them. I lived a very happy life for two years after a rituximab infusion destroyed all symptoms but I gradually noticed a relentless fatigue developing . I can't pin point when it started but I would get dull aching joints and extreme fatigue. Painkillers like tramadol used to give me energy so I would get them by saying I was having a flare up ( lying). I was actually on the verge of losing my house and had been in court several times so I needed to be able to work and tramadol were my "get up and go" med. I'm fairly sure they messed up my endorphins in a semi- permanent way cos after being off them for over a month I would get aching joints and extreme fatigue and I was told I had fibromyalgia which I don't believe in to be honest. It's obvious doctors/drug companies just put a name on a bunch of symptoms caused by lifestyle factors so they can use a drug to treat said " disease" and make millions while making the patient worse in the long run. You could justify giving heroin to a junkie if you consider the suffering they go through but not if you consider the causes of the condition. If doctors can't find the cause ( which isn't profitable) then they shouldn't attempt treatment with addictive drugs

I am really worried that I will continue gaining weight on Mirtazapine. My gynecologist wants me to loose weight to handle my PCOS. I lost 10 kg with Metformin, but have managed to gain it all back while still on it. Mirtazapine has already made a big change in my life for the better. I am excited to do things, Doing basic things like taking a shower does not feel exhausting anymore and I have a little bit of hope for the future. I really hope I do not have to change it. This hypothesis is often discussed by psychiatrists. I take mtp for insomnia and depression and my first doctor informed me about the potentially paradoxical effects of higher doses. But this is not true in all cases and varies from person to person. My new psychiatrist recognized this and has a lot of experience with this drug. We decided to increase the dosage which increased sedation and my sleep improved. Another interesting fact is that mirtazapine is often safer in bipolar disorder compared to other antidepressants, contrary to what is often claimed. I wonder if that has anything to do with the antihistamine and anticholinergic effects.

I just stopped using Mirtazapine. It was given to me because the doctor was concerned about my anxiety and weight and that I have eating and sleeping issues, but you would think that is a good thing, not really. I struggled to wake up every morning and I got an obsession about my weight, I wanted to force myself not to eat, because I have gained so much weight and I felt like my body isn't mine. It has really helped with anxiety, if I wasn't sleeping and tired or having no energy and feeling really bad about myself. This medication just isn't for me, but everyone is different.

Hello! I have tried about 10 different medications for my depression/anxiety and mirtazapine is the only thing that has worked for me. And it REALLY worked, right away the first day of taking it. It was like I had a new lease on life. However, I already struggle with being overweight and mirtazapine was causing weight gain. I also was sleeping way too much and was so tired. So I quit the medication to find another one but again, nothing else I have tried works so I want to go back on it. I see from your video that actually I might have been so tired because I was on 7.5 mgs. I don’t know what to do about the weight gain though, I read that mirtazapine actually changes your metabolism, so even if I manage my appetite (Which is hard cause that medication made me so hungry), and exercise a lot, I might gain weight still anyways. Do you happen to have any suggestions for this problem? Thanks!
@ConanLiuMD
@ConanLiuMD Жыл бұрын
I would definitely talk to the doctor who is treating you about it - but you could bring up this study and see if going up on the dosage may help with the fatigue. Do note that the studies suggested the fatigue side effects should wear off after several weeks regardless of dosage. Unfortunately I don't have a great suggestion for the weight gain as it's a well known side effect of mirtazapine (other than trying other medications though it sounds like you have sort of gone down that route already!). Would defer to your treating doctor to see what other options might be worth trying since they would know what you've tried already!

Hi, I've been taking the maximum dose of Mirtzazepine for over a year and before that, 30mg for 6/7 years. I've just seen a psychiatrist for the first time who suggested coming off it due to the nightmares I was having. I asked her if it would be tapered which she confirmed, but I've just found out my dose is going to be reduced to 15mg for two weeks and then nothing. I've very worried that 2 weeks to taper off may not be safe. I have a benign brain tumor that causes tonic clonic generalised seizures that have been witnessed to as seriel seizures twice, and I'm worried that such a fast withdrawal may put me in danger of having a seizure. I live alone. Do you have any advice for me?
@evaggeliastavropoulou7829
@evaggeliastavropoulou7829 2 ай бұрын
For heaven's sake! From 45mg (maximum dose) to 15mg in two weeks? And then nothing? That's stopping cold turkey and nothing good comes with it. You should go slow, terribly slow. I had the worst time of my life last summer because I stopped at 7.5mg (I reinstated after a month in hell). It took me almost a year but I got to 0.15mg with liquid tapering. I even got withdrawal from 0.9mg! To sum it up: Don't stop it so suddenly. Talk about it with your doctor, if they insist in you stopping cold turkey like that then find another doctor. Consider hyperbolic tapering, especially when you reach the lowest doses.
