Many teachers forget one important lesson. And that is - it’s okay to make mistakes. Saying qualche persone is not the end of the world. People will understand you. But being afraid of making mistakes will get you nowhere in language learning. I like the video and I would encourage you to do videos in Italian where we could learn by listening. Listening is super underrated in schools and it’s one of the best ways to learn a language. Many thanks.

Assolutamente!! As I always tell my students (and in many of my videos): 1) there's no Italian grammar police 😄 2)we learn through mistakes, so they are essential in this process. As for listening, it is super important, that's why it has such a central role in my method, both in all my classes and online programs. Even here on KZbin I have a dedicated playlist, if you haven't seen it yet please check it out: kzbin.info/aero/PLaeKp_sNLJVzAE7fuGlmoxi2dugE-dYod

This is so helpful, Valentina. Do you have a video that discusses the use of prepositions for "some". I have heard "dello zucchero" for "some sugar", or "dell' aqua" for "some water", to use examples. I have also heard "un po' di", for example, "un po' di vino". Is that some wine, or "a little wine"? This is complicated for me!

I am learning italian although i am quite basic right now so this may sound a bit dumb 😂 i have a question, if you wanted to say, for example, “some cat”, or “some” with any singular noun, would you use qualche? so like “qualche gatto” or is that incorrect? if so what would be the correct way to say it?
@ItalianTeacherValentina7 ай бұрын
That's not dumb, it's exactly the content of this video! In short: "qualche gatto" is the correct form. Please watche the video for the detailed explanation 😉

So, you master the idea of alcuni and qualche and..... what's this?...a masculine noun with a feminine ending! 😅 I can only imagine how difficult it is for a native Italian speaker to learn English. Valentina, it's pronounced "y'all".

I don't understand how "some" can refer to singular - how can you say "some book " or some person"
@ItalianTeacherValentina19 күн бұрын
I know, this is one of those things that, from an English perspective, doesn't make sense. In Italian, it does. We can express the concept of "some" both using singular words (with qualche) and using plural words (with alcuni/alcune). Think of "qualche" as your clue that - despite using singular words - the content is plural in essence. Hope this helps!

So if i say Qualche volta andare al supermercata

With the sentence: Ho bisogno di qualche libro Why isn’t there an article before libro?
@ItalianTeacherValentina3 ай бұрын
Because "qualche" (some) already defines the noun, so we don't need the article
@mooganstooker24197 ай бұрын
It's also true that alcune means someone, further confusing the issue. Plus, if qualche libro and alcuni libri mean the same thing, why bother having both?
@ItalianTeacherValentina7 ай бұрын
Ahah buona domanda! That's just how Italian is, I guess. We do have multiple ways to say the same thing 😄 ("qualcuno" is "someone" in Italian, "alcune" can mean "some people" when people can be left unsaid because it's implcit from the context)
