Don't make this mistake on your vinyl plank staircase!

There are more and more products that are offered to finish stair nose edges. one of my favorites are products that can slide right over an existing tread and give it a more substantial profile while also eliminating some modification to the stair treads. The step with the wood tread is just a display in our store to show how the stair options are installed. The stairs in homes here are built with plywood or osb, not actually hardwoods.

Or, dont make the mistake of using those stair nosings, and get guys that fill that space with wood so that it is 100% unbreakable, that tiny rounded stair nosing doesnt fill the whole portion of the nosing in. More work to install, but a better, safer, more professional result.

Not the subfloor, just the vinyl plank flooring and stairnoses needs to all be redone for the whole staircase. Sorry for the confusion

😂😂 you can easily install a spacer cut to the size of the stairs. "The entire staircase" Stop lying my boy!

Every foot of that flooring will need to be removed from the stairs to build out the front of each step with a spacer built on to recreate that nose. There is no lie there.

I feel like gluing a piece of wood on isn't good enough. The nosing has to be the extension of the tread itself or that joint is going to break. I built mine without nosing and now I want to replace the treads because I don't see any way to get a strong nosing with what I've done.

Its not a huge deal, the flooring just gets pulled off, we rebuild a nose on to the edge, and put the new flooring down properly.

All of the flooring was installed on the steps incorrectly. The flooring all had to be replaced. I did not mean the actual stair structure itself, I should have stated that more clearly.

Nope! Vinyl flooring is what the 70s popcorn ceiling or the 60s louvered windows was then. Wood flooring should be just that...wood.

Don't use these stair tread covers if you can avoid it. They're ugly and cheap looking. If it's for a rental property, it may make some sense, but not for your own home. There's no rule that says "the stairs must match the flooring". In fact, I think it looks better if they don't match. (Just my opinion) Also, there's no such thing as "Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring." It's either luxury, or it's vinyl... not both.
