I’ve been a residential carpenter in NJ for 20 years. I’m ready to shift gears. This might sound crazy but can I come work from home you for a few days? You don’t need to pay me. I’m far enough away from you where I’ll never step on your toes but would love to learn hands on. Like I said I’ve been in the trades for years. I can weld fix and build anything. I’d really appreciate it if you could give it some thought. I’ll even buy you breakfast and lunch wash day.

You are right in mostly, I have seen so many starters buying supper expensive stuff from my supplier and I see the same equipment sitting there being sold as used. But...!!!! I starters with a 4gpm 4000psi GX390 and I have been beating the shit out of that thing untilit blew up. So recently I bought a gear box reduced RW6040 comet pump and I stick it on that Honda GX390 . Mand I I knew I was going to experience such a difference I would have invested so long ago hands down. It not only the "faster" you finish on the job, it's the brutal grind it takes on you. I have built my capital on doing gas station, those are miserable jobs, dirty as hell and over night. When you have to push around with 4gpm all the shit you rip off the floor and it doesn't move as you wish and it 4am you'll wish with all your heart you had a 8gpm.

@@YoungAmbitionYA well. This is a long story, I'll try to make it short. I had my own restaurant which I had to close in 2017, brutal business not much money. So I end up working in a convenience store owned by a large Gasoline corporation. I started my pressure washe business while working there to have a side income thing. Started good because I'm in a good town in NC so I had a large amount of costumers coming into the store so I printed my cards and gave them to everyone at the register 😅 manager didn't care at all. But I had my eyes on cleaning all the entire gas station, concrete, drive through and canopy. One day I catch one of the big shoot GM and I offer him my service and he told me that the had really bad luck and nobody would do a good job so he said I'm going to give one that we recently bought and depending how you do well see from there. Luck for me it was a nasty shit hole in the middle of nowhere. So I brought my A game and clean the hell out of that thing all night long, really cold becas it was winter, charged him 1500$. Probably not to much money but I was just happy to get that mayor job not only for the $ but for the comercial reference I could show as experience, also the confidence it built on myself. After that they loved it, obviously they loved the price 🤪😮‍💨😒 so I have done 15 of them already this year. And that's how I bought my Honda IGX800 8gpm 2 weeks ago. 💪😅👍 And now I'm going to target new home construction. They only pay 175$ per house but the volume is brutal, and it's only a rinse off. Oh, and I quite the convenience store. DON'T MISS IT AT ALL...!!!!

So I agree with all of your advice, and appreciate it. I actually have done what you said. I did buy a nice small cold machine with a belt drive that I can upgrade and permanently mount at some point, but other than that I built my own softwash machine with a 26 gallon tank and a 12v 5.5 gpm pump. It is making me money barely. I do want to add a heated machine at some point so I can do better on old oil stains, but my actual point is I sold a quad to buy the machine, so I didn't take out any loans nor am I in any debt, but marketing. Now that I have started, I am bottom barrel of money. I am struggling to make it and just can't afford to do 500 month marketing yet without going into debt. It is a slipper slope right now. I am doing some advertising, but only about 200 a month and trying to get more jobs to buy more marketing. This is my first year in business, so I have been really writing it off as that is normal for first years. I am hoping things pick up more in my second year, and I do appreciate your knowledge and advice.

Hang in there is right. Takes time to get your name out. Don't leave a job without asking your customer to tell someone about you. If you book a job ask them if they could tell a neighbor the day you're coming and have them contact you if they want their house washed as well. Door knock in a neighborhood on a Saturday afternoon. Catch a few people in the yard. All ways to sneak another job in without spending money

Hang in there bro! New to the biz too in metro Atlanta. I bought a 2.5 GPM end of last summer. Didn't know GPM was the most important factor. I kept searching and learning. I did make enough to pay for the investment. Did some EDDM very helpful only advertised to communities of $70k+. I do still have my job ( commercial truck driver) and used business credit from my other business ( digital marketing go figure) 🙂 I just bought a business kit with 4 GPM pw and other accessories. Just added that to the things I already bought. Working on marketing first still need insurance and other protective items in place. Still learning about the things mentioned in this video. Going slow and steady. Still working the job. I have 2 kids to get through college one coming out this year plus a abroad learning to Japan in May. The other will start in the fall. I'm 54 with a GED education and a supportive wife. Saying this to say anybody can do what they set their mind to, stay with it. I say this to myself everyday and now I'm saying it to you... Favor go before you, prosper on the way! ✊🏽

It's a grind. Rome wasn't built in a day, as the saying goes. Market to everyone everywhere. Keep the good customers dump the bad. Every season it gets better and better. The more seasons you're in the game the more contacts you put in your phone and after awhile they call you. You don't have to call them. Marketing in the first 2-3 years should be your biggest expense. Get your name out there, do honest work and the rest will follow

I see this all the time I see guys with these Mack trucks everything new but no viable plan for business. What I did was practically I bought everything used. To test the waters although I have an established pest control business I offer my service them and it took off. But continue to crawl before investing in newer equipment. First and foremost the motivating factor should be customer service..not how much money am I going to make. Easy job and can turn out to be a nightmare if the client isn’t satisfied.. *customer service *promptness/showing up on time *never over sale your work be realistic products are Superman some stains clients will have to live with.. *always always before leaving have a walk threw.. *never nickel and dime your client..unless they are asking for different service you had not initially agreed upon.. *never give an estimate over the phone you need to inspect the property..you don’t want to over or under estimate the job. *and never allow a customer to hustler you..stand your ground or don’t take the job..your time & products are valuable..but be reasonable remember it’s still primarily water & chlorine.. I hope these points helped..

I have a question, and maybe you might know One of the factors of people needing their roof washed is that roughly after 10 years, the lime stone in their shingles is fully eaten away and you get mold, mildew and algae that starts to grow. That stuff, left untreated, ruins a roof and they will have to replace it sooner than they would have had they actually been treating it with SH and cleaning it. So here is my question(s) Assuming it's the 10 year mark, all of the lime stone is gone, if they got their roof cleaned once a year, how much longer would that roof last over someone who doesn't get it done? Second question. If you got a brand new roof, and you were to do that same once per year treatment, would the roof last even longer? And if so, do you have any idea how much longer it would last?
@YoungAmbitionYA
@YoungAmbitionYA 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure for either. I know keeping them clean and mold free prolongs the roof but not sure by what metrics

Great video! I will be adding a 12 volt batch mix setup to my truck for next year and was wondering what size tank you would recommend? I mainly do residential and will be using a 7 gpm pump. Was wondering if 65 gallons seems reasonable or I need to go bigger. I work out of a 6.5 ft bed so not a ton of space. Thanks for any advice!

All depends on if you hook up mainly to good municipal water or mainly wells. I have 100 gallons on my truck and only run into issue when I seldomly get a job and the home has a slow well. 99% I'm on city water and the tanks never drop. If you're on good city water you would be fine with 55-100. If you're on well most guys do 275

I am rinsing properly going with the flow of the siding and trying my best not to push up into the weep holes. What an I do? I am really struggling with this. Also apart from that almost every vinyl sided house I do has at least one side that is oxidized. Please explain to me what I can do. Thanks for your time

Nothing you can do. Happens to all of us. Let it drip a little then rinse above it. Let's the water fall over the weep to carry debris down. Spraying directly at the weep only makes it worse. Just a byproduct of a house wash. Just like FPPL said, tell your customer what it is. In my wash liability that they accept before I come do the job it mentions weep holes and that we don't come back for them. I just tell the customers to hit it with the hose themselves. They hire us to wash the mold and algae. Not to babysit a weep hole. I'm off every house wash in 1 hour or less. When I was 12v I was 1.5 or less. With oxidation just rinse softly. Don't irritate it. If you're running into oxidation often you might want to learn how to remove it. Some good vids on KZbin. Big upsell opportunity. Don't worry about it, just learn to make money from it
