The amount of helpful information in this video is crazy. It feels like I paid a professional colourist for an online course and that he managed to fit everything into a 15 minute video. Thank you (:

Great video. My brown skin always needs some tweaking. Even when I had a Sony with the s-cinetone and noticing the same with my Nikon z8 at h.265 with the standard profile. Some day though, I need to start shooting in log/raw and start getting into the nitty gritty.

Its a tricky one, the lighting situations and whats around you giving off reflections makes every situation slightly different so no matter what camera or profile you're using, there's always a little work to be done to get the most pleasing skin tones. Hopefully these tools were helpful!

This was such great, straight-forward tutorial on a complex subject. You were able to keep even the more in-depth concepts simplified, and steer us around some pitfalls when corrected probably one of the most troublesome element of colour grading. Keep it up... maybe I'll bump into you one day out shooting. ~ Salty

I had to pause this video and save it, this such a valuable tool for me to have. I have a form of colorblindness so i get my hues mixed and this video will help me so much in my next edit!! Your 💯 people notice skin tones off on photo/video more then anything and i usually dont see it.

One thing to note, if you want to use the qualifier as your preferred method and are working in a flat gamut like DaVinci Wide Gamut, it's easier to qualify skin tones if you do it after your node to convert to Rec.709

Great video and I've learned so much in one video! I'm not sure about the difference between a layer node and a power window, these seem quite similar in this instance, no? Why set up an extra layer node when you can simply set up a node, call it SKIN TONE, and do a power window?
@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit 6 ай бұрын
I might have to do a whole video on this one. Layer nodes are definitely very different from power windows. They can often be used together but they are not the same thing. a power window is a mask, it tells the program to only make the changes of that node to the desired area inside (or outside if it is inverted) of the power window. A layer node is a way of combining nodes together, kind of a foreground and background type situation.

This is GREAT video. Very practical and helpful. You quickly mentioned having white or grey (18%?) in the shot? It would be great if you could show how to use that hack for quick fix color in shot and post just in case of white balance slips? 💯
@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit Жыл бұрын
Cool! I'll keep the white/grey thing in mind for a future video but the long and short of it is that if you have a white or grey area in your video that's supposed to be perfectly white or grey, you can use your scopes to make sure that it's exactly perfect. If you use the rgb waveforms, you just want to line up R,G, and B on that part. Or if you want to go even easier, most editors have a "white balance picker" that will allow you to just click on the white/grey part and it will auto adjust.

So easy to follow as are all your vids. can i just ask, when you make the power window would you not have to track it ? Just a thought for a future video, making a intro
@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit Жыл бұрын
You can track it if your subject moves enough. But if they stay still you don’t have to, all depends on the clip.

It seems when I edit a photo from lightroom to photoshop it removes/ changes the color profile completely. The saving and going back to lightroom it's pretty off. Any recommendations?
@dunnadidit
@dunnadidit Жыл бұрын
I'm not 100% sure I'm understanding the question but if it is what I think it is. Picture profiles don't apply to raw photos so if you take a photo and you have a PP applied in camera, LR and PS are still going to show you the raw data to edit... not the picture profile. As for the saving and going back to LR, I'm not 100% on what you mean?
